siftbotsays...Promoting this video and sending it back into the queue for one more try; last queued Wednesday, September 25th, 2013 9:32am PDT - promote requested by eric3579.
lurgeesays...Radiolab is a pretty cool podcast. One of many that I subscribe to.
kulpimssays...*quality
siftbotsays...Boosting this quality contribution up in the Hot Listing - declared quality by kulpims.
articiansays...Sorry in advance for the hate-filled pose, but:
Dooooohhh...
Fuck Radiolab. This piece shit construct of modern media ruins otherwise intelligent radio. Apparently the "ADHD" generation has become so much the norm that we can no longer listen to an entire sentence, so they cut every micro-thought up with hosts speaking over one another constantly.
You will never hear an interview on this "show". You will hear a topic, and few seconds of clips by some people who are remotely associated with the story, while these attention-whores decide to constantly, constantly, cut off the sound clip and proceed to, not even just tell you what the person was going to say, but they'll cut right in mid-sentence and guess what the person was going to say, and then have their little not-for-resale mini-quips interrupting each other back and forth while they try to form a coherent thought.
Evidently their audience lacks the patience to hear one speaker say more than 5 words in a row, and is incapable of forming their own thoughts based off of someone from the source of the topic, so they'll intentionally stumble around their "presentation" to help you form what to think.
And you know I loath to use general labeling, but they are to the liberal media, what fox is to the conservative. Fuck these people to a bloody, messy, death.
speechlesssays...It's scripted. Not just random interjections.
I don't like this presentation style either.
edit.. it seems you understand it's scripted.
edit more the more I think about it, the more I wish I could delete this comment.

articiansays...Ah don't worry about it, but we're on the same page as I am totally aware it's scripted. That's what bothers me; that they intend for their presentation to be this way.
NPR announced they had to make 10% cuts. I wish it could be their entire show.
Anyway, sorry for all the hate.

bmacs27says...I like radiolab. I agree, they could leave a bit more air time. They're well researched though. I follow this topic relatively closely, but they still showed me something and managed to keep me entertained.
bamdrewsays...This show may not be for you, but I'm concerned that you're too quick to toss it aside based on a misconception...
If you listen again, Radio Lab's style is a throw-back to the 'radio dramas' of old, with sound effects and mood music and fast scripts and narrators leading you through the story. I actually thought it was corny how they played up the 'old-timey radio style' when presenting these non-fiction subjects. Its a scripted show, not a live interview show, so the fast cuts are more analogous to a reporter sharing a set of punchy quotes gathered from experts for a story.

G-barsays...well, Artician is right I guess... I won't be able to listen to a 60 minutes like show while two old chaps converse about the most important issues in the world... I'll probably be bored to death... I need explosions! lazer beams! shewshs!
on another note... funny that I sort of work in this business and I was very well educated by this article.
