swampgirlsays...While our Farhad was on a road trip from Toronto to Montreal, he encountered this... strange occurance.

Awesome! The only answer is a local distortion of the space-time continuum (Occam's razor).
swampgirlsays...seriously, I thought it was just a perspective thing... but they were driving away from the plane
Farhad2000says...While on our trip we saw this black spot in the sky for a while off to the right, over the next 5 minutes it dawned on us that it was a commercial aircraft that looked to be stuck in mid air.
As the video shows the plane occupies the same air space for a while, and it's relative position does not change while we are driving away from it.
There was no audible signature of a jet aircraft overhead. I took out the DV camera as fast as I could and filmed away. The area is close to a military base.
Anyone know what the hell this is?

How about a dirigible decoy?
LadyBugsays...who knows ... certainly weird!
swampgirlsays...Looney Toons laws of physics.... the plane ran out of gas....
rickegeesays...And I thought I saw Alex Krycek or Mr. X near the overpass.
But since you were in a moving car, I think it was probably the parallax effect. Or drugs.

Farhad2000says...I know of parallax theory and other visual oddities that might have accounted for this. However it still doesn't explain why it seemed to hold the same position as we approached it, were parallel to it and then drove away from it.
We saw other planes during the same ride that did not display the same curious phenomenon.
gluoniumsays...I have seen this effect several times, living near an airport. More often at night though and sometimes to such extreme that I have actually got out of the car to look and convince myself that yes it actually IS moving. It is obviously an effect of parallax, the relative motion of the car and optical illusion but damn if it doesn't look like it it really is hovering sometimes. It drives home the realization of just how easily human perception can be deceived and how common these sorts of things must be taken for evidence of "ufos".
www72says...Now that's a glitch in the Matrix...
Farhad2000says...gluonium and www72? How come no votes?
LadyBugsays...because they think you dance funny, farvy ... all that popping around!
mlxsays...I believe there are many, many things which we do not know....or maybe I read too much Dean Koontz.
This rocks, farhad!
quantumushroomsays...Bull! There's no such place as "Canada."
antsays...My friend who works for Boeing said it is real: "Real, and it is parallax. I see it all the time. And it does create this weird feeling in the brain, too. Almost vertigo'ish, cuz it defies what appears to be the laws of gravity."
Semiapiessays...Sorry, Ant. The "jet black, hovering plane" explanation just has more truthiness than an optical illusion people by an airport see every day.
Kruposays...Upvote for the comments.
Farhad2000says...*Discard
siftbotsays...Discarding this video (discard called by gold star member farhad2000)
