Daphne really? I read the books before seeing the TV show, when I finally found it some dusty bootlegger in Kuwait I immeditely grabbed it... only to be sorely crushed via cheap 80s special effects.

you had to see the show in its time-frame farhad. And yes, the movie needed a lot more this kind of stuff.

forget the movies...old and new. Instead read the books and listen to the BBC radio program on dvd.

And don't forget his two Dirk Gently novels, for which no movies exist to ruin the wonderful imagery.

i like the tv show and the radio show the old ones i havent seen the film the tv show is realy good it dosent matter that the afects r crap its just of its time and good lol like old red derwarf english tv at its best

Ya, SG,I have the original BBC radio play on (the archaic) cassette. Love them. The TV show was almost exactly the same script as the the radio play, so it was interesting to see the visual choices.

The radio show was written before the books...so even though I love the books, I'll always prefer the radio play - and the "cheap 80s special effects" of the TV show. ;-)

I couldn't for the love of god understand why they picked Mos Def as Ford Prefect in the new movie. Like why? I always pictured John Cleese as Ford Prefect.
