Hidden Camera turned on a Texas Diner with gay family

Wow. Texas.
chingalerasays...

Wow. (Insert random U.S. City Here).

Ever been to Gresham Oregon? Rhode Island? How about Greeley, Colorado?? Why in FUCK is the state of Texas associated with inane, civilly and socially retarded folks with you BB?
Not the first time your labels reflect a rather insular world view.

Try making a simple list, of allll the things you associate with a particular region of the planet good and bad and when you get to Texas, try on your world without it having never been here-

Kennedy might still be alive if it weren't for Johnson, eh?? "Goddamn feral Texans!!"

Choggs... I think you may have missed the real, though unintended, message in this bit of "journalism". Us southern hicks are just generally nicer than everyone else, arn't we?

I'm glad you didn't put this in * news, as ABC clearly wants it to be considered. Perhaps *wtf would be appropriate though, because that was my reaction to this ridiculous "reality" tv segment.

This is exactly the kind of shit production we should downvote as a society, not just here at Videosift. This pathetic attempt at "reality" tv cum journalism is the worst and most pathetic kind of social manipulation.

Don't mistake my hatred of this crap production for hatred of any of the players or played. Mostly I feel pity for the lot of them. Yeah, self-righteous and above-it-all-better-than-everyone-else kind of pity. Why? Because this is pure and simple a slice of shit on a shingle served up fresh and hot for any takers.

@chingalera Way to miss the point there, my friend.

How do you change perceptions? Play on the stereotype to show the falsehood.

Besides, any problems I have with basic Southern stererotypical attitudes are based on actual experience. My dad grew up in rural Oklahoma. I grew up hearing only the n-word. As a teenager, we had to be in the San Francisco area and we were only allowed to drive through. Couldn't stop and spend money because he didn't want any gays getting it. This was 1971.

Is he alone in his prejudices? Absolutely not. And what this dumb show points up is just how the State of Texas is leaving these attitudes behind.

Racism is being driven underground. Homophobia is being driven underground. They'll never go away.

And yes, @jonny got it, too. That Southern politeness is a stereotype, too -- and it too is based on reality.

hell where I live in Georgia we are still segregated. Check out Blue Ridge, Ga on wikipedia or whatnot. It's sorta a segregation agreed upon, Blue Ridge went all white, and couple towns over went all black, very heavy racism on both sides, whites better not get caught in their town and vice versa. Living in the deep south is FUN!

and im not exaggerating which is crazy. But oh well it works. Course nobody wants to cause a stink anyhow in the Blue Ridge mountains thousands of acres of mountainous forest to get lost in

what i think the money of this show could have better been used for:
investing in the school system to teach kids about how to better deal with conflict.
investing in ads that promote standing up for others.
investing in anti-bullying communities.
investing in bullying help hotlines.
investing in gay right movements and support help lines.

4:54 - 5:05 THIS is the issue. choosing to stay out of the solution makes you part of the problem...
