Josh, I think their excuse was there was no way to get off the road - they were worried about being rear-ended, or maybe they worried about being grabbed by the ears and taken down into one of those ditches and being rear-ended.

Why should they have pulled over? There was like 10 others there helping out. The guy would probably have tried to save face and blamed the guy driving the VW bus (listen to it 'take off' at the end pure air-cooled).
