The Gods Must be Crazy - Sociological Functionalist Theory

mauz15says...

Contemporary sociologists acknowledge three general theoretical perspectives, or ways of looking at how various social phenomena are related to one another. These are the functionalist, the conflict, and the symbolic interactionist perspectives.

The Functionalist Perspective. The structural-functional-or, more simply, functionalist-perspective sees society as a system. Functionalists identify the structural characteristics and functions and dysfunctions of institutions, and distinguish between manifest functions and latent functions. Functionalists also typically assume that most members of a society share a consensus regarding their core beliefs and values.

I love this story telling method evan though it can be quite condicending and come across rather authoritive and undisputable however maby this is why it is so enjoyable and meditatve to watch...

although i agree with pionts raised in the vidoe interms of sycoligy . the clip seemd to be anti technoligy i think the problem with this is that if you look at it technoligy will eventualy alow humans to ceep exsiting. weather ore not that is a good ore bad thing you cannot know but say technoligy gets to the piont where humans can assend then thay will no longer need food ore objects and will be able to retern to this state of equlibream but with knowlage instead of ignorence . i dont think you can say having knowlage ore not is a good ore bad thing. however if you want to be able to outlive your body whitch i belive most people would then you need knowlage to be able to do this. it is indeed unfortunate that we have trashed the world and used knwolage in the ways we have instead of a more logical and focoused use of it and i think thats what this clip points to.

it seems that evan in most primative soucites people belive in godof sorts and continuation of life after death this may be posable however i belive it is improbable. so instead of making up fictions of living for ever i think it wud be up to humans to creat the ability to live for ever.

allso you have to look at the progress of scince understanding, thought, and technoligy as an exstention of nature as we are all part of nature evan though we are in denial

I haven't seen this for a long, long time. I barely even remember it. What most strikes me looking at it now, with the benefit of age and experience, is that how the bushman killed the cobra was absolutely badass.
