This is my favorite weapon.

About 20 minutes into the Miami Vice remake from last summer there is a pretty insane, and realistic, example of the kind of damage one of these rifles can do.

I agree that the presenter is trying a bit too hard to be "Extreeeeme," but nevertheless, it's a pretty cool segment.

I think I have an M95 in Battlefield 2. It's nice for shooting through cockpit glass.

If you're interested in sniper rifles you should see the movie Shooter. It's amazing how accurate the rifles can be.

Current sniper record is with a .50 cal by a Canadian sniper in Afghanistan IIRC. Headshot kill at 2.8 miles.

He can't help but be extreme. He was a Navy SEAL for 10 years and has 25+ years of training in several of the more brutal martial arts (muay thai, Jeet Kune Do, aikido, jujitsu, savate, arnis).

That's over 35 years of programming/brainwashing. You'd be pretty extreme too.

Makes me wonder if he can still enjoy everyday life or if everything is a combat situation in his mind.

Yeah baldie is playing it very hammy but I thought that was par for the course with these macho weapon shows.

I wish they would have shown the whole clip where they go about shooting through metal plates at over a miles distance.

That's not an excuse, if anything most people with that kind of experience have the opposite kind of mentality. Actually, I didn't think the host was that bad compared to others, but he's playing up a bit of the "XTREME KOMBAT" angle up because the Discovery Channel producers think their military shows will be more successful if they go over the top and pander to the lowest common denominator, and damn them, they're right. Oh, and aikido is not a brutal martial art in any sense of the phrase.

It really comes off as pro-military propaganda. I do love this show, watch it whenever I get the chance, but the tone is very aggravating, almost celebrating our imperialism excessive pageantry. "Look at how awesomely unstopable we are! We've got laser guided guns that shoot other guns at you that shoot rocket powered chainsaws! America! FUCK YEAH!"

Cronyx, I hear ya. It's a little disturbing to see people celebrating power so enthusiastically, but how can you avoid it?
