Fox News ' Bob Beckel Wants Julian Assange Assassinated!

A half insane conversation with Bob Beckel.

wikipedia
"Bob Beckel is an American political commentator and an analyst on the Fox News Channel.

He is also a columnist for USA Today. Beckel was the campaign manager for Walter Mondale's 1984 presidential campaign. He became known as the man who wrapped the Wendy's slogan "Where's the Beef?" around Mondale's opponent Gary Hart so effectively. While Beckel was still in college, he worked for Robert F. Kennedy's presidential campaign in 1968."

Treasonous traitor? Broken US law? Hes not even a US citizen.....calling for the assassination of a private citizen of another nation, for doing his job?

The world's news: 'It would be very difficult to charge Assange with any crimes without also endangering the core principles of free speech that allow news outlets to do their work. He has a very strong case for protection under the first amendment as a journalist.'

Fox News: 'He's broken every law of the United States...and should be illegally killed'

What would they have to do at this point to shock their own audience?

these are the same assholes and network that talked america into an illegal aggressive 2-front war resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths, untold destruction at an incalculable economic cost. perhaps they should be shot.

Ya know it's said that Dead Men Tell No Tales...but only on Disney Rides. It's absolutely ridiculous to believe that if Assange was killed that the leaks would stop. Our spec ops might believe a lot of stupid things...but they're not complete morons. Killing Assange would not only make him a martyr but there's certain to be TONS of people who we have no idea exist who have access to the information he has.

So killing him would essentially do nothing except prove to people we're insane. I mean look I'm all for killing as many human beings as possible...but at least serve some sort of purpose with it.

Crowds are easily duped no doubt, I wasn't arguing that aspect. But the moral imperative that demands that majorities dominate minorities still stands as it did 2 thousand years ago. Nothing is sacred or non-negotiable anymore, that is what I meant by the rule of law being dead to the rule of the will...even if that will is being manipulated.

This isn't the will of the crowd, this is the will of big business.

^You couldn't have it more backwards. It's a very small minority of extremely wealthy people that run this country. They own our government and our media, they pick our candidates and our judges, they take us to war in order to multiply their profits, they write self serving laws, give themselves tax cuts, bailouts and no bid contracts, and if all else fails, they rig elections. For you to blame this corruption on the people who have been beaten down by this powerful minority disgusts me, and your solutions would only further embolden the authority of the moneyed few.

I didn't offer a solution. Only the observation of a evil of democracy. And I agree with your point, that they are a fraction of people, but they still manage to sway a majority vote ad far as issues are concerned. I think we are actually saying the same thing, just on 2 different grounds. You are saying how atrocious it is that people are gaming the system in their favor, which is accurate. I am saying that it is a flaw in the system that allows for this problem to exist, which I also believe is accurate. I haven't purported to have a better solution, it is perhaps an evil that will always be with us, as it will always be within us. But I digress.

This is not democracy.
Democracy is not 'evil'.
We couldn't be further 'from saying the same thing'.

Democracy sent Socrates to death over 2 thousand years ago and it sends us to our death now. It sent to death generals who fought for Greece, then denounced that decision and sent to death those that made the push in the first place. Democracy has a history in death, inconstancy and injustice; and tends to favor those who can amass power and have effect on majority politic. Democracy isn't evil, but the men who sit behind it are. I freely admit that democracy may be the best system you can have to maintain the highest level of liberty, but it also has high entropy towards evil, as evil seems to have high levels of political ambition over the normal man. Saying "this isn't democracy" is like saying Soviet Russia wasn't "true" communism, moot.

dystopianfuturetodaysays...

Russia's problem had more to do with its political system -military dictatorship- than it's economic system, a point which has been obscured for political gain over the last half century. Also, it was never really a communist economy to begin with.

Sorry, I've got to go do other things, so I'm going to predict your next comment.

You: Our problems, too, have more to do with our political system than our economic system.

Me: It is our economic system that is the catalyst for corruption, and the catalyst for big business's hostile takeover of our government, capital and national resources.
