Fox News Bias Exposed By Leaked Memos

Cenk Uygur (host of The Young Turks) discusses leaked memos from Fox News that expose a clear right wing conservative agenda.

You and I know that Fox News is not fair and balanced, they do conservative programming.

Propaganda. That's exactly what Fox News Channel does. And this is yet another case of overwhelming evidence of that.

"Propaganda. That's exactly what Fox News Channel does."

That's exactly what every news organization does. Take the war in Iraq...has anyone ever reported that Saddam committed his horrible crimes while on our payroll and with our consent? Seems like a big deal right...haven't heard CNN or MSNBC say that.

You may want to qualify that statement to US news organizations. It was reported both on the BBC and german news. Unfortunately usually as a way to say "Thats why we know he has WMDs! We still have the receipts!".

Propaganda, yes, it's an issue in all news and media... but come on. No-one does it in such a blatant, barefaced, unapologetic and grotesque way as Fox News right now. At least, not that I've heard; I spent some time in Dubai and Al Jazeera Arabic was pretty ugly.

Not that I'm defending the Democrats, since I think both parties suck. But. Has there ever been an instance where a Democrat pundit or a clearly left-leaning organization ever changed the terminology of a commonly accepted phrase or concept in order to manipulate public opinion?

Because the whole Estate Tax/Death Tax, Public Option/Government Option, Torture/Enhanced Interrogation Techniques phenomenon where common phrases get changed to make people change their opinion on things seems to clearly be a Republican thing.

It just reminds me of the video of the Rand Paul supporter curb stomping the MoveOn.org protester. Has there EVER been an instance where the opposite is true and you have a left-leaning supporter committing violence or even threatening violence to a right-leaning person?

Are any of us still under the impression that fox news is "fair and balanced"? I know they still say that; but it's a joke. No, it is literally their joke. They don't believe it, their audience doesn't believe it, no one does. The idea that any of their reporting is impartial or unbiased has been disproven continuously for the last decade. We can easily keep doing it, but it's stopped being an interesting observation.

Yeah, this unfortunately, simply doesn't matter. It's not like there are laws that say you can't call yourself news unless you make an effort to not be biased. People who watch Fox know it is biased. They don't care because it has the same biases as they do.

once again proving that political information in the US largely consists of propaganda. It is a very simple strategy: get people to emote rather than think. Once they are angry, logic has much less of an effect.
The derivative strategy is to target sections of the population that are more easily stirred to anger - ie: the stupid and the old. "Old" of course doesn't necessarily equate to anything, however, as people age they're viewpoints often become narrower, they hold on to the fallacy of the "good ol' days" and the illusion of security, and as bodies breakdown, anger becomes a fairly easy emotion to trigger. and there you have 80 percent of the population favoring illegal wars, tax breaks for the top 2 percent, expansion of corporate power, and the demonizing of the free flow of information.

Or that had Saddam not been so rutheless, he would have been dragged out into the streets by his "people" and chopped up into tiny pieces, then fed to his family... Of course, news just demonizes him... Of course, American propaganda...

Was Saddam evil? Sure, in our minds. But were the Iraqis set against him just as vile? Not in our minds---but sure.

Wow, YT calling fox biased. Glass houses, all that.

Not so much calling them biased as much as calling them big fat liars. It's okay to have a perspective, and to express that perspective. What's not okay is to try to misrepresent yourself as something you're not.

Fox claims that they report the news without a political slant, when in reality they're engaged in an Orwellian attempt to distort the facts, misrepresent history, and even try to alter the very language we use, all to advance their political agenda.

That's way, way past mere "bias", that's propaganda.
