Two things:
1) I've never had a video discussed before; is it customary to NOT give the poster a heads-up? I definitely feel short-shrifted here. I mean, discussed and discarded within three minutes?

2) The other vid is quite low quality (comparatively speaking); I would be happy to give the other poster my embed, but I do think that the increased quality is at the very least grounds for debate over change in content.

You're right in that it shouldn't have been decided by one person. However, change of quality does not mean change of content. Ideally, you would have talked it out with the poster of the other one, asked if he minded if you kept yours (since it did so much better) in return for a "thanks" or a few +promotes.
