Find North without a compass (47 sec)

An extremely simple method to find North. Sure, it's primitive engineering, but that's how engineering technology works, i.e., from primitive to complex. And sometimes primitive technology is still the most reliable.

Our Australian/SouthAfrican/Brazilian friends are going to be surprised at where north is if they use this method...

Wait, wouldn't it work the same regardless of what hemisphere you're in? The sun moves from East to West in both hemispheres, right? So the shadow produced after waiting 15 minutes would still point East, thus making North the same too. Am I mistaken?

I hang my head in shame. The dear Captain is correct. Teach me to post when I'm tired...

Now if only there were a simple video to show my ex-wife how to live within her means.
Not that I'm bitter or anything.

But there are sooo many bodacious blonde bimbos at Fox News. Have you not a bounty from which to replenish?

Once you've handled your business while looking at Coulter no other woman can match up.

Know though that my heart will always belong to Barrack.

Obama only has one R in his first name. "Barrack" is where soldiers are housed. I guess Dag must be one of those who frequents such places; I'm going to go donate to VideoSift so that Dag doesn't have to sell his heart and the rest of his body to army men anymore to keep the site up and running.

I'm trying to visualize all of this in my insomniac head right now, so I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the further from the equator you are, the more inaccurate this method will be. In the northern hemisphere your shadow will point northeast (increasingly north the longer you wait). It will also point more north during the winter. The same holds true for the southern hemisphere but "north" becomes "south".

Seems you'd be better off finding a mossy tree.
