Prayer is like worry. If worrying made a scintilla of difference i would be the biggest worrier in the world. Prayer, also, makes not a scintilla of difference, life just "is" and good and bad things happen. Of course if it makes you feel better then pray all you like, that's fine, but be prepared for no response because there has never been, nor will there ever be, one.
