We get chastised when we say "some say that..." in university reports, because it ALWAYS means "I say". Otherwise, you should say "Luhmann says" or similar. Always refer to the person that is actually saying it. That Fox News exploits this comes as no surprise. For shame.

I used to work at a callcenter selling insurance and we weren´t allowed to give personal advice so whenever a question like that came up the standard response was: "Well a lot of people I speak to tell me that they (insert advice here)"

That was the legally safe way of giving your advice through some third party opinion.

Shittiest job ever.

There is such a thing as hushpuppies, I felt like I needed to make the distinction. I mean, come on, get with the program. Duh. *snaps fingers*

(To be honest, originally it was just babies, but I thought it was a bit too dark, and everybody likes puppies.)

*promote because this is one of the first damn things they teach you not to do in college. i guess it helps that a majority of their core audience has probably never even heard of these newfangled colleges, much less attended one.
