Evolution Confusion

From Youtube :
"After a long day of hard work, a sand sculptor is annoyed at how people have decided his sculpture originated."

This video is for a Christian Television Network, and it basically assets that if you believe in evolution you don't have any reason...

...the irony...

Hey MarineGunRock, to be fair I dont think It does not "discuss" religion either, but apparantly some Creationists think it does....

Although I am glad Terrible is generally agreed upon

Not a "discussion" to be sure, but most definitely an illustration of a point to be made in that discussion.

Interestingly, it works both ways. While this is undoubtedly made by someone arguing the creationists' side, the point is so stunningly retarded (can I use this term MINK?) and belies such a profound lack of understanding of evolution that I think it is quite easily hijacked to subvert the creationists' views.

Oh, and one other thing. I find it hard to swallow that any "creator" (were there ever such a thing) would find the proper use of your brain "offensive"...

Stating that evolution is offensive to the Creator is definitely a reference to *religion.

...but it's still *terrible. Am I the only one that thinks that evolution and religion don't contradict each other?

yup

hell no!
even though i've never believed in any creator, i've always asked, those who do, "Why can't the creator simply have created evolution, as a means to allow his creation to survive & flourish, without micromanaging their every move?"

the reply i receive, whether amongst the faithful or not, has always been 1 of 2 things:
agreement, or stammering.

^sure, he or she could have created evolution, but people of fundamentalist faith have a hard time acknowledging that since the bible (which they view as infallible) doesn't mention it.

one should also take care to notice/mention that not "all" religions would contradict evolution. It seems more an issue for the Abrahamic religions.

Drachen_Jagersays...

Christians always resort to analogies like this and straw-man arguments.

Evolution is a blind watchmaker. Evolution is a sand-sculptor.... Blah blah blah. They try to make Evolution something which it is not so they can destroy the Non-evolutionary argument they created and cry 'Ha!'.

Rational people do not need such crutches. Attacks on God and faith can be made purely on how wrong and stupid those beliefs are without the need for fallacious argument.

Explain the laryngeal nerve on a giraffe (or a human for that matter) creationists.

On a fish the l-nerve is straight, it passes under the arch of the aorta in the most direct possible path.

In mammals the nerve also passes under the arch of the aorta but the route carries it from the brain, down to the chest and back up to the throat. In a giraffe this means a detour of several metres.

Either God is a terrible engineer or creationists are wrong.
