One of the lessons seems to be that the guard thought the metal chair would keep him from getting stabbed, but it didn't work.

He probably should have waited for armed backup.

Trail the knife-wielder, but retreat if he tries to engage. Only engage if it's necessary to discourage an immediate attack on a bystander.

Something stange, the blue-shirted sign waving guy gets floored, appears to get stabbed at least once, possibly twice, then the attacker walks away and the guy just jumps up again as if nothing happened??
