The moray seemed a little sluggish... was the snake venomous?

Well my assumption would be, the snake grabbed on, and instead of fighting, the creature tried to flee, but since the snake was attached slowing it down it got tired eventually? This is a very random guess don't take my word for it, for I know nothing, I am a cat
