Lawdeedawsays...Old people should just crawl into a hole and die
dooglesays...Maher is a f*n' ageist.
Sagemindsays...Mandatory retirement at 65!
Or a limit on how many terms they can serve.
Why is that so hard? No wonder the Us congress is so corrupt.
Drachen_Jagersays...How about a serious third party so gerrymandering becomes far less effective.
Nearly every other democracy in the world works better than the American system because they have multiple parties. You can't win simply by being marginally 'better' than the other guy. Multiple parties force the governing bodies to deal with issues they'd rather ignore and in minority situations they force the big parties to make concessions to other voices.
Lawdeedawsays...Untrue Sage. Completely, entirely, untrue. We put term limits in Florida and guess what? We became FAR MORE corrupt. Why? Now it's a mad dash to impress lobbyists! So why should we put in term limits for more corruption?
We should disband fringe (terrorist) political parties. We should make it to where corporations cannot donate funds. We should do a lot--but not term limits. (Some of our best, sadly, were the old-school oldies who just didn't give a fuck about what others had to say.)

MaxWildersays...Not sure about which countries you are referring to, but with our "first past the post" election system, viable third parties are nearly impossible. Any strong movement will be absorbed by one of the parties before it gets anywhere, like the Tea Party did.
Of course changing the voting system is about as likely as getting money out of government or setting real term limits.

kingmobsays...Good times.
Been awhile since I have been here. The system died and I feared debugging it.
But that was Maher at his best.
