Yes, it's that time of the decade again, kiddies. Time for another obligatory trailer from 3DRealms, showing how much more they've got done on a new engine, until they switch and delay again.

My money is on them announcing another delay within the next 9 months...any takers? :)

Some info on this teaser from Shacknews:

Following yesterday's screenshot release, Shacknews is pleased to premiere the first new Duke Nukem Forever teaser trailer in over six years. According to George Broussard of developer 3D Realms, the approximately minute-long video was originally created internally for the purpose of holiday festivities and marks the beginning of further media unveilings surrounding the notoriously long-in-development first- person shooter.

"The release is still 'when it's done,' but you can expect more frequent media releases and we're not changing engines again and we have considerable work behind us," Broussard told Shacknews today when asked about a release date.

Zifnab: Hehe...I'm realizing that when you want to play with the big dogs, you just hammer in the embed code and hit submit. Then you go back and add channels, comments, etc.

With that said, the only way that this game can redeem itself now is if it jumps out of the box, installs itself, impresses me so much that it erases my memories of the original Half-Life and blows me at the end of every play session. Maybe (and this is a strong maybe), it has a chance...

Wow! That looks... surprisingly bad. All those years for that? It's not much footage obviously, but what is there looks disappointingly generic, and an awful lot like Prey -- I think they may have "borrowed" some of the assets from that game. Duke Nukem 3D is still one of my favourite FPSes, but man... I've been looking forward to this game since it was announced. The last trailer (as dated as it looks now) looked way better than this. So disappointed... urge to kill... rising...

Non-A-Mous, is that you? This teaser is such a tease! I guess that's the point really. It's hard to make anything of what they show us here. All we have are the years of video-crumbs and big-talk on the level (probably surpassing)of John Romero on his precious Daikatana, always followed by a "when it's done". Still fairly optimistic about the game. The fact that they've scrapped what they've done with this game at least 3x over shows me that they want to get it right or not at all. Of course, I'm disgruntled over how long it's taking but if the final product turns out better as a result, no harm done.

Please don't change the atmosphere/mature content of the game for all ze 360-generation kiddies either.

First of all, I was an avid player of DN3D. I was fairly skilled at making maps also. So, there's no bitterness here. However...

This project is nothing more than a retirement program. By taking so long to complete and release a product, they continue to fall prey to newer technology. Also, during the "development" of this product, the MMORPGS have carved a good slice out of the gaming market. How is this game gonna compete with CoD4? A dead cat...

DNF will never come out. It's a long, on going prank by 3D Realms, every 10 years or so they'll release some teaser material to get everyone talking about it again.

Trailer. Or, more accurately, teaser. But in either case, yup, *commercial

I knew this was going to shoot up onto the Sift the moment I saw a Google News entry about it... and so here it is, right on time.
