Kruposays...Per an RPS commenter:
The tackiness of DX’s ‘acting’ is one of its greatest delights! I wish they’d stressed the comedy in the ‘bomb’ scene, actually.
“Oh my god, JC, a bomb!”
“A BOMB?!”
“A BOMB!”
“A bomb…”
jimnmssays...I always thought the helicopter pilot in Deus Ex sounded like George Carlin. I recently bought the game on eBay a few weeks, I've had the sudden urge to play it again. This will make the 3rd time I've bought the game. The first time I traded games with a friend for it, then I traded it in later to buy another game. I bought it a 2nd time when I saw a copy of it on the used shelf. I don't remember when or why I got rid of it again, but this time I'm not going to get rid of it.
I stumbled on a bug the 2nd time I played through. I don't know how or why, but on one level (I think it was Paris) none of the women characters had pants on.
legacy0100says...My brother loves this game. He played it so much that he actually achieved the impossible: successfully keeping JC's brother alive from that whole hotel rescue mission.
The game actually had something programmed when you had your brother rescued, but for all that work it wasn't as glorious.
twiddlessays...They should have used Jason Alexander as the voice of the pilot.
Thylansays...I kept him alive too. Or rather, saved, and took 2 paths. Dead and alive.
I also tried in Deus Ex 1 to win the battle against the bad guy, that wanted a gun mod for his head. Its impossible. Enter the scene with full ammo all weapons, and unload tons of accurate shots, till your dry, and he wont die. That kind of brick wall scripting where tis programed so that failure is the only solution is annoying. I expect thats why his brother surviving was even possible, so as not to do that again.

I think you're supposed to stay and save your brother, he is alive in the sequel after all. The first time I played it, I got hurt, so ran away like a coward.
The 2nd time I played it, I stayed and fought, but they kept coming. I figured it might be scripted so you can't save him, so I bolted out the window. Apparently you just have to try and he survives because when I got to the place later in the game where I found his dead body in the lab, but this time he was alive.
I played it a third time, but this time I knew they were coming so I planted mines by the door and in the hall where they come in and was able to defeat them.
10175says...Really? You can actually save both the pilot and JCs brother? I went through so much trouble trying to save them both that when I failed to save either I felt it must have been scripted that way. It makes sense though, as the game was already more flexible beyond my imagination.
Looks like I have to play it again I suppose!
