I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's not actually 'laughing at' the attempt, but he is merely enjoying the moment. And perhaps the studio manager is telling him to shush because they can hear him chuckling.

I love the nonchalant "Yeah, okay." look he gives, and then just takes a drag and goes back to normal after he's obviously been told "Stop that".
