Carl Sagan on Charlie Rose

Carl Sagan and Charlie Rose discuss "Deamon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark." Non-believers shall enjoy...

What the hell are you talking about CaptainPlanet? Please take your fake ultra-right wing cosplay elsewhere, it's just not funny and doesn't fool anyone.

Its always nice to see Carl, I think for many of us who read his books, its not too much of a stretch to say that he changed our lives. There's no going back to the cowering fear and confusing darkness of an unenlightened, superstition imbued life after learning how to think skeptically from him. He was simultaneously incandescently brilliant and deeply poetic, an extreme rarity. The planet is impoverished greatly for his loss. That said, its a shame this interview is essentially totally wasted on Charlie Rose. Nearly all his questions are frustratingly (even embarrasingly) childish and trite. It's painfully obvious he doesn't get it even by the end of the interview, "faith, Carl, faith". Whatever Charlie.

Calm down son, anger isn't wisdom. Sagan has no life, no emotion. He's like a robot. At least Rose is funny.

Anger is, however, a useful response to a statement that was obviously intended to invoke such a reaction. You say that Carl Sagan was less intelligent on topics of global conservation, evolution, astronomy than his interviewer? Please explain yourself. Oh, now you change your slant to say he has no emotion, since you cannot obviously support the prior comment. Sagan did nothing but build, in his viewers, a emotional response to wonders and dangers of science and foster a love for the natural world.

Now... I ask why you would want to speak so derisively against such a man? How many guesses do I get?

You didn't use anger. Why not, you should have. And I don't see how Sagan *yawn* inspires emotion, when as another said in the other video, he sounds like Agent Smith. LOL

Hey now! Don't misconstrue my words...:)

Even Stephen Hawking speaking through a monotonic machine inspires many a chelloveck including myself...I don't see how someone's voice has any bearing on what they're actually saying with it.

Tis a sad interview in as much as Carl is clearly in the later stages of his illness. I too miss him. He was so gentle and intelligent. I feel he would have been such an asset to reason in these silly times...

"Carl Sagan gave his last interview with Charlie rose on May 27th 1996. He discussed pseudo-science, religion, unfounded claims, his personal love affair with science and his struggle with myelodysplasia as well as other elements of his last book: The Demon-Haunted World."

"Better the hard truth, I say, than the comforting fantasy. And in the final tolling it often turns out that the facts are more comforting than the fantasy."
