Sagemindsays...Knowing about the lack of safety equipment in those cars and absence of any air bag type devices - those look to be some pretty scary accidents! Being thrown from the car just may be the best thing that could of happened to these drivers.
But not the driver at 2:23 (rag doll that he is)
ravermansays...People used to be braver. They saw life threatening risks and did it anyway.
Now we think ourselves so clever - and our individual lazy lives as so important that we should never take any risks.
But taking risks and being the survivor of something that was dangerous or near impossible is what has brought us to where we are as a species.
therealblankmansays...Car racing is still pretty damned dangerous. I don't begrudge drivers one single piece of safety equipment- nobody should have to die simply because we like watching machines go really fast.

This statement is so full of crap that I'm not sure where to begin. Theres no courage in strapping oneself into a car and traveling at insane speeds without safety equipment if that safety equipment exists, which it did not in the time that these scenes were filmed. Are you saying Fangio would not have worn a safety belt and proper crash helmet if he'd been offered one?
So many people in the world today show immeasurable courage in so many ways. I don't see any signs of the "advancement of our species" slowing down any time soon.
MaxWildersays...Can't watch. It's too close to snuff.
