KO'd and didn't get thrown! The legs are easily swept away by the impacting vehicle but not enough energy is transfered to throw the 500-900lbs (wiki) of camel that was being supported. Looks like the camel was broadsided on the right side and the legs nearly spun 270 degrees to where they came to an abrupt stop on top of the car.

that was pretty cool but i threw up from watching it.

When I was in the UAE, we took a shuttle between the base and the city. Often at night these really dense fogs would roll in and the driver would slow way down on the highway -- but really slow, like 10 KpH. I once pointed out to him that there was only desert around and we'd see headlights from oncoming cars, so it was safe to go a bit faster without hitting anything. But then he told me that if he ever hit and killed a camel (which were a common sight, roaming basically free about the area, although they never went far and all of them were owned by somebody) he would most probably get lashes and have to pay US$3000 as well. He was one of the huge number of immigrant workers from the Indian subcontinent, and although he was making 4 to 5 times as much money in the Emirates as he would at home, three large would still have meant many months or years of wages for him.
