It is now a vast network of roads carved into the sand for miles and miles with nothing but tumbleweeds and cacti to inhabit them. Tom Scott is a man on a mission to explore interesting places and share them with the world. He explains why this city didn’t grow to fill its vast scope, and how it has evolved over the years into the small, thriving and growing community it is today.

This sounds like a place you'd either have to be retired to live at (i.e. Palm Springs), or otherwise have access to one of the nearby airfields/military bases.
