He probably has a better idea of how much the supermarket is worth than any individual products within it. Not knowing the price of things you never buy isn't being out of touch. If he didn't know how much a Windows licence was that'd be an issue.

It's much more fun to watch wealthy politicians struggle with prices since they are actually supposed to know these things.
