Bad Seaplane Landing

An amphibious seaplane pilot (that is the plane is amphibious, not the pilot) forgets one of his pre landing checks.

true, but I think the pilot's career has sunk without a trace.

This happened to the corporate pilot where I work. In our case, I think when the wheels are down there is an annoying buzzer sound to keep the pilot alert of that fact the wheels are down. They disconnected the buzzer because it was so annoying. Then they landed on water with the wheels down. Tragically, our pilot was killed. (I think it was a twin otter, BIG plane.) I was invited to fly into the location just 1 trip before the fatal trip.
