BBC Documentary: Relationships - Sex and Sexual Health

I'm gonna' skip a step here and *blog this myself. This is a very explicit depiction of sexuality, but is certainly NOT porn. I found it fascinating, and I hope others agree. I do ask all of my fellow goldies to refrain from discarding this until such time as a consensus has been arrived at.

The question is: is this suitable for the 'sift? I think so.

Ok.

Now, the showing of the actual sex act does indeed fall into the 'harmful to minors' category, [Children's Internet Protection Act], even if it is educational or for research.

In my opinion items such as this may place Videsift on watch by certain filtering services like SmartFilter or CyberPatrol which will greatly decrease our availability on the Net. If tagged as 'harmful to minors', VS won't be allowed on any public computer which recieves U.S. Federal funding such as those in libraries and schools. Public entities which provide free Internet access in parks or other municipal areas could also block VS.

Now, I'm all for Freedom of Access, but everyone needs to understand the repercussions of moving into this type of content.

This is more graphic than soft-core porn. So yeah, maybe BBC put it out, but ... are you nutz?!

So while sciencey shows are nice, I think you'll have to do without this one. I worry even this is sitting in the blog where NSFW geets removed until it is sent back.

Really, this shouldn't be around.

Wow: I'm amazed this came from the BBC (missed it when aired...must have been a late-night show!). How uncomfortable must that sex have been? Cameras strapped/inserted everywhere and a film crew stood around with high-power lights!

I'm a very open-minded Sifter; but this pushed the limit even for me (I don't recommend watching while trying to eat lunch! Put me right off...)

I'll have to agree that erring on the side of caution is the due course of action here. It is legitimate in its own right, but allowing this kind explicit, albeit educational material will start a slipping of standards. While submitters will always find a way to push the limits, we need to maintain a clear definition of what is, and what isn't acceptable.

Ahar, you all seem amazed this was shown on the BBC. Thats because it wasn't. It's part of a program on Channel 4 called a "Girls Guide To 21st Century Sex".

Just thought you'd like to know...

Good *discard. Not unlike the movie Microcosmos, though.

I am not sure that I learned anything other than that you can put a camera anywhere. And that there will always be actors/models willing to be on television. I would really love to see the contract that the actors and the fluffers signed for this piece of Mr. Wizard porn.

That is one helluva way to get a SAG card.
