articiansays...An excellent example of what shock can do to you. I'd love to know the aftermath, and if he really had to amputate like he was thinking.

shveddysays...At this point infection is still a risk, but they have reconstructed everything and it's looking like he can keep the leg. Also, the break was above the ankle joint, so recovery should be much more complete and easier.

worthwordssays...infection is a secondary concern, Your immediate danger is neurovascular compromise. If the foot doesn't have a blood supply then it's dead within hours. Often this involves manipulation and realignment at the scene since blood vessels can get kinked
