I feel so cheated by the fact that this game is coming out in November. I bought L4D when it first came out and enjoyed the hell out of it. That was...until I realized that there were really only 4 levels (ok 16 technically but only 4 different campaigns). I feel severely cheated here, they don't open things up so people can make their own levels and the supposed level pack ended up being just a survivor mode which was made of...GHASP..the same levels!

Compared with all the downloaded content that came over time with TF2 we got zip and i feel like im really left out in the cold now that L4D 2 is coming out.

Am i alone here?

Just give it time.

Releasing mod tools doesn't change the fact that Valve promised to release new weapons, characters, movies (campaigns) as updates for L4D. And now we find out we're going to have to buy all this in the form of a new sequel.

The original has been out for a bit more than 6 months and Valve is already coming out with a sequel. EA doesn't even move this fast with their sport franchises!

It's hard to satisfy customers... it's either too long between releases and now when it's coming quick, it's too short time. Just wait, it'll probably be out in late 2010 anyway.

very true. althought this game will be sweet, it is a cash in. no way should it be coming out this soon...and half the features should have been in the first one.

A cash-in to milk the 360 crowd, and it looks lame as hell.

Go look for some gameplay footage and see what I mean. C'mon...a friggin frying pan? Too much like "Dead Rising", IMHO. L4D is the zombie apocolypse, a seriously creepy and depressing game, but this looks ridiculous.

Well as usual I disagree with the idea that shorter games aren't as good as they could be or somehow shortchange the gamer. As Valve explained and as I've found out, L4D has huge replay value. I play a campaign every couple of days. Takes about an hour or less and is an ideal break from whatever I'm doing. Combine it with the achievements and it's been keeping me going for several months. It must be the best value game I've ever bought.

And if you have it on the PC aren't there loads of mods if you have that kind of time? The lack of new campaigns may be disappointing but I reckon a new game will actually provide better value for money.

Finally the sequel is promised to be more complex and yes much bigger. I just hope it's as much fun the second time around.

ooooo NOW HEAR THIS!!

"Doug Lombardi has confirmed to Shacknews that "This is a full priced sequel. At the end of the day, this is going to be a bigger game than Left 4 Dead. It's five campaigns versus four, all five are playable in Versus mode, Survival mode out of the box, the new multiplayer game mode. Plus over 20 new weapons and items. It's a full sequel." So it will be full priced."

^I'm glad to hear this. Because it makes them up their game as much as possible if they're charging full whack. Goodness knows EA does it every year with their sports games and they're the same old repackaged shit.

Hah, that Steam petition is precious. By that logic the Call of Duty hardcore fans should be spitting blood with each new release - who plays COD2 multiplayer now?!?

Valve showed they knew what they were doing with L4D, let's trust them to put out a good sequel. If they don't then people won't buy it. These fans are concerned about the undue haste in releasing a sequel because they're not seeing it from Valve's point of view. The company clearly sees they can sell a sequel to even larger numbers than before, not just the core fans. In that sense it's good business and doesn't necessarily mean L4D dies a death. It has such a big following that people will play it for years to come.

What will kill L4D is making a sequel with the same characters in it, so the new survivors are a smart move, even if they are already disliked by people who have yet to play the game.
