Personal opinion of mine would be NO RELIGION should have "tax exempt" status.
Charitable organization should be one of the few things that should, meaning a organization where the "owner" does NOT make a huge profit from said company..

Fiver, I completely agree that the law should be changed so churches don't get automatic tax-exempt status. And the CoS is a great case for this.

But, in theory, there are other churches which do real charity work, and don't serve to make their leadership rich. While I may think they're deluded, if they actually conduct themselves as a non-profit, then they should be eligible for that status.

Ugh...good point Spoco2 and Mi1ler, although almost any time that great songs is used in a video here that point gets made. Such a great piece, and it has the most effect in the film in which it originated. It is definitely an internet meme that is reused to Ad nauseam. It makes you feel like something epic is happening, so it fits in with a ton of videos.

Im enjoying this whole Anonymous v. Scientology thing, but this vid is boring...
Put cruise on stage and have him do a "song and dance" again... thatll be entertaining. Stupid. But entertaining.

^ Alas, chew my information for me and regurgitate it into my mouth for I do not wish to do it myself. Regrettably, I require all knowledge to be sweetened with taste and be made visually appealing else it risk discountation.

Every church that I've ever been to was incredibly charitable. That last one's pastor live in a house owned by the church (as most pastors do) and the house is in serious need of work, and he certainly does not drive a fancy car. Why not? Because the money goes to missions, other charities and their food bank. Don't be an ass and assume that all church leaders are out to make a profit from their congregation.

Church leaders are not out to make a profit? Are you kidding me?
Do you know how wealthy the Vatican is? Gimme a break, not out to make a profit my ass. I agree that most Priests/Rabbis/etc themselves do not wish to make money, but the Architecture of churches alone eludes to its wealth.
Then theres scientology, and no Im not going to capitalize it. Which as it's goal is to make money, Hubbard himself has admitted to his son that his goal was to create a religion entirely for profit.

I do not chose to acquire knowledge from videos on VideoSift, I already know where I stand when it comes to scientology. This is where I chose to come for entertainment... This maybe your classroom, but it is not mine.

MG et al - several good churches and their leaders are not about making a profit, however you have to look no further than the 'mega-churches' which sell the product of religion. Overall - no church should be free from taxation. If the church wants to fund non-profits which are not religiously affiliated that would be fine, but having religion automatically grant tax freedom is wrong.

I wasn't talking about "The Church" - I was talking about churches. Small, independently run churches that answer to no higher organization.
