Andy Kaufman channels Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman 1980

His impression of Joaquin Phoenix is SPOT ON. He even gets on the audience for laughing.

Man I remember when Dave had his short-lived morning show and it was awesome. It made me a fan.

Oh, and wouldn't it be more correct to say that Joaquin was channeling Andy?

He is the dead one of the pair after all...

I'm old enought to remember watching his skits on SNL. This was classic Andy Kaufman. Even though I know its an act... He still makes me uncomfortable when I watch him. He was a genius.
I think Joaquin may just be a nut though. Or he stole this act. Good find.

Brilliant! Kaufman was an absolute genius.

Joaquin Phoenix wishes he was Andy Kaufman. By the way, I'm pretty sure Phoenix's entire burly rapper shtick is all an act. From what I hear, Casey Affleck is filming a documentary about method acting, and the whole point is to watch Phoenix to go into character for a year without breaking it.
