A conversation with Siri on the iPhone 4S

YouTube Description:

Macworld's Jason Snell talks with the iPhone 4S's new Siri technology. Eagle-eyed viewers will note a transcription error in the video, where the iPhone 4S refers to itself as the "iPhone 4 ass." Siri is currently taking self-esteem classes.

While the AI isn't quite HAL or GLaDOS, I'm really really impressed with the speech recognition. It seems like in 10 minutes of video there was one glitch I caught and it wasn't too bad (4 ass instead of 4s). If it can really translate speech to text this accurately, texting will be amazingly improved.

not impressed, Dragon dictate had this nearly perfected in the 90's

I used dragon at work and while I was busy doing random things I had a desk mic and would just call out questions like time or weather and dragon did it all for me.

Course dragon has been around much longer than most all voice recognition software so they have perfected it, and they have software for most operating systems.

Not really. I worked in IT for 12 years and saw a LOT of people for whom Dragon was really frustrating.
