Maybe I'm getting old, but this seemed like a golden era for PC games. The excitement in the voices of those watching Doom for the first time is exactly how I felt when I first played it.

I can't remember the last time I played a game and had that many "wow!" moments. The possibilities seemed more endless then.

For me the golden era was when Quake 2 came out and then the Voodoo-2 hit, and we were having LAN parties and playing at 1024x768 for the first time and DAMNNN it looked so good, so fluid. We had quakeclan.net then and clans were signing up for free hosting and free email and stuff
