If he's/they're good enough to get away with it like this, then all we can do is congratulate him/them. Best part is that nobody got hurt (physically), although I have to admit that because the heist was done with such finesse, you have to root for the thief/thieves atleast a little.

Also, regarding the alleged relaxed security in the bank across the street to FBI headquarters, that might be just why they couldn't fathom someone trying to rob them. A false sense of security for sure, but it's interesting to see to what extent it had reached.

Finally, wasn't there an episode of the X-files where Mulder went to a bank just outside the FBI headquarters to cash a check, then got held up there?

Though the way the money is handled seems really insecure, with a guard just walking in, taking the money and bringing it to his truck. It would also seem feasible to just run past him, snatch his bag, jump in a car and drive away.
In the Netherlands the armored car drives up to the wall of the bank where a special armored door is and load the money in that way.
