14 Year Old Republican Addresses CPAC

Jonathan Krohn - "Republican prodigy"

This kid's too young for this shit...

If you're not a liberal when you're young...
Floodsays...

The four principles of conservatism he outlines are:

1. Respect for the constitution
2. Respect for life
3. Less government
4. Personal responsibility

It seems to me that most people would agree that those principles are good ones, regardless of political party. But like a Rorschach inkblot test, these principles elicit different ideas in different people.

For example, take the second principle "Respect for life". One person might think that means that birth control or abortion is wrong, but preemtively going to war is okay. Another person might think that going to war and invading another country is wrong, but think birth control and some forms of abortion are okay. In today's political climate one person is labeled as "conservative" while the other isn't. And yet, from both individual's point of view, they are adhering to the principles.

These principles are like a daily horoscope. Read any one of the twelve horoscopes and it will feel like it applies to you because the message is so generic. Read those four principles and perhaps only #3 will alienate a few. There is no substance in these principles, but the republican party adds its own definitions that gives those principles their real meaning, and it is those definitions that I don't agree with 50% of the time.

You might as well say your core principle is "do no evil". Who could disagree with that? No one of course. Only deranged people actually knowingly do stuff that they consider evil, everyone else is doing what they think is right given the circumstances. But "evil" is committed anyways because people have different definitions on what "evil" is. To some, birth control is "evil", to others, war is "evil".

Wrapping this up. This core he speaks of is trash. Who cares about these principles that make up your core. They are meaningless without a set of definitions that give the core meaning.

Only 14 and already a master of saying a lot without saying anything.

Trained monkeys are so cute when they don't know what they are talking about.

You know what his choice for President is in 2012?

Sarah Palin.

The entire gist of the CPAC was that Republicans lost their conservative beliefs. Really? Last time I checked they all weren't systematically in a coma the last 8 years. No one said anything about defending the constitution with the Patriot Act, elimination of heabus corpus and illegal wire tapping.

Ridiculous rhetoric.

Watch for the negative lib/dem responses. The stronger, meaner, sarcastic, more vile the attacks the more on target Jonathan’s message must be.

The lib/left can't survive in the sunlight.

We should start realizing that when the left and the media are attacking they are revealing a fear of someone who is strong enough to stand up to them. Or, is offering a message that threatens the left.

Remember after the election?

The left said Rush and Conservatives were irrelevant.

If so is why are they spending so much time talking about him and the Conservative Movement?

What are they afraid of?

Look what we let them do with our party...McCain. They loved him (the NYTimes especially) during the primaries.

Need I say more?

Farhad2000says...

Oh please, am rejoicing the fact that Rush Limabugh has become the defacto head of the GOP.

That would only drive more voters to the left then before. The actual disunity was felt between Newt's New Old GOP ideas and Rush's claim that the GOP need not appeal through new policy.

The GOP has no aim nor relevance and cannot claim anything given their failures to act in the last 8 years.

So going by this logic, that the more a viewpoint is slandered, vilified, and refered to sarcastically the more on target it is...
Damn, Rush and Coltier must be doing alot to up the left.

dude his homeschooled.... quite articulate, but kind of sheltered. I heard him on Thom Hartmann's radio show, and he really has no idea what is going on and made some shit up about al-Queda training camps operating in northern Georgia....

I think he'll get older and have some experiences that will blow his mind, and he'll swing left. The universe will moderate him (I hope)

MrConradssays...

Well, he seems to have all the stereotypical gestures and sounds bites of a career politician down pat.

I don't think his mother gave birth to him at all, I think he was probably just assembled in Alabama with spare parts from dead republicans. Coulter was probably so excited about the project he donated his penis.

New blood is new blood, but it's pretty sad when both your party and your country are in a state of crisis and free fall that you turn to a 14 year old for guidance and ideas; that goes for any political party that would be so desperate to retain some amount of its power.

If he actually turns out to be the one that "saves" the republican party, I'll eat my hat.

Zapadacsays...

What "conservatives" don't get is that respect for the constitution, respect for life, less government and personal responsibility are not characteristics specific to conservatism, although they would like to think they own these traits. And this is why they are no longer in power, because they demonstrated NONE of these characteristics while Bush was president, and yet they preach as if they did, and insulted people who do not consider themselves to be conservative but also hold these principles close to their hearts.

This kid is nuts.
I saw a documentary on TV. He spends ALL his time with his mom. He never hangs out with kids his own age. He doesn't go to school, he gets all his education from his mom. Doesn't sound like a healthy way of living for a 14 years old.
He should do like other 14 years old: play sports, hang out with kids his own age, get a girlfriend.

Someone bothered to make a documentary about this kid?
