Remember this is 1v1 deathmatch... of course it is about timing items and memorizing maps. team games are so much more interesting! Rocket Arena, Action Quake2, etc. were far more enjoyable than regular deathmatch because they were so much less predictable.

fun!

Loved watching this but I gotta say this sorta competitive gameplay frustrates me. Much like researching starcraft build queues and memorizing keystrokes, being able to time exact respawns of items and understanding every single move the opponent can make in a map and trying to beat them to it just was never the point for me (and it isn't why and how I enjoy competitive gaming). I'm not criticizing, just saying I find competitive gameplay much more enjoyable with some (or a lot) of chaos thrown in the mix. When 20 people are running and gunning around a map the skills required to win have less to do with chess-like strategy and more with actual twitch-gaming abilities (and group tactics). The game showed here, while fascinating, seems like a fucking nightmare.

just so everyone knows... this is complete horseshit. Sales of these vehicles are down for a REASON. too many brands with too many crap models, these 3 companies are too big to be competitive and they need to go the way of the dinosaur to make room for more competent and FORWARD THINKING manufacturers.

i don't think this is where the top-end will be because its not scalable. what they need to figure out is how to spread render loads across clients to keep everyone at a consistent 60FPS

the one thing that i find amazing is that there are multiple references to co-development with AMD in the text and in his other videos... i wonder if anyone can verify this, as it sounds like the only plausible aspect of the story, which begs the question -why would AMD associate with this type of company?

I also work in the game industry and am very familiar with current and near-future rendering technology and am certain that this video a hoax, pitch or that the gentleman is misinformed about what can be done serverside.

Whenever you hear a designer/producer saying "you can do anything you want in this game blah blah blah..." they are lying and quite possibly incompetent - i've seen a lot of these promises before, every feature of the game is utterly infinite with no real basis in what's possible or how to do it.

Assuming this is actually an interactive environment in the video, the biggest reason this can't happen is that the rendering strategy is dead wrong. This is like the opposite of bit torrent; instead of the clients spreading the rendering load, the server's processing and bandwidth are slammed. The farms that run WOW servers can barely keep track of player positions and data validation, let alone rendering "hundreds of animated characters on screen at once with full raytraced reflections in realtime." This would be a neat feat for a server to do in realtime for ONE offsite client, let alone thousands.

I long for the day when this is possible, but what we have here isn't even smoke and mirrors, its just bullshot.
