This is the perfect internet video.

That didn't look real.

I was walking back from the bathroom in my home at like 3am one night. It was pitch black. I kicked a small container of toothpicks that had been sitting on the floor and stumbled. One of the toothpicks flipped out of the container and landed straight up just as my foot, and full weight, came down right on top of it. I ended up with the wooden pick sticking straight out of the bottom of my bare foot. They were standard ~2 inch picks, and it was probably buried about 3/4ths the way in. It looked exactly like what this guy had, but it went straight into the tissue of my foot, rather than glancing along side.
My partner drove me to the emergency room right away, and to this day I still feel the elation at learning it hadn't splintered or snapped off in the foot, and they were able to extract it pretty much in the same way he did. I got bonus tetanus shots for being such a good patient.

I was really hoping this video was secretly about how fixing your broken society made airport security unnecessary in the first place.

What kind of societal lash-back will such a level of robotic, consumer conformity result in?

And then what happened?

People walked right into this themselves. No, the data wasn't stolen, because it's part of the general online business model to collect and sell it. A few people raised alarm about this for years. No one listened.
Even now nothing will change, because:
1) We've allowed the collection and sale of user data to become irreversibly entrenched into the world economy, and
2) The same majority of the populace who already showed apathy in the face of privacy-advocate's concerns will not change their lifestyles over this.

My only hope is that the creators know they're portraying two very sad, middle aged men who have no other way of proving their value, and catastrophe will strike in either a funny or poignant way.
