Good samaritans' should now have a lawyer with them

13150 says...

@JD: The problem is, there needs to be a very clear procedure for determining negligence in good samaritan lawsuits. Quite frankly, the onus of proof NEEDS to be on the victim and neutral medical professionals, and it doesn't just need to be proving that the person who helped them ended up injuring them - it also needs to be proving that they would not have sustained equal or greater injuries had they been left alone.

I have heard of cases where, simply because there was no one else to sue, a good samaritan who actually saved someone's life got sued for helping. There are situations where snap decisions must be made, and the threat of a lawsuit hanging over potential good samaritans just for trying to help is going to mean more people die.

Now that they aren't running for reelection, they have no problem admitting their lies, but it really IS shameless for them to say that, even if they hadn't lied, they would have gone to war with or without approval.

All I can say is, I hope they are tried and convicted for crimes against America (and Iraq). They've got their own testimony to damn them!

Honestly, if all he's ever done with those kids is innocent, he is the most naive person in the world NOT to understand why it isn't "ignorant" for people to be freaked the fuck out by his sleepovers.

That said, he SOUNDS as if he has had some serious psychological trauma, but whether that simply has given him no conscience whatsoever or whether it has left him with a near-childlike mindset, only those kids who have had to sleep with him know for sure.

Jimmy Carter says torture can never be justified

13150 says...

A man can be a poor president and still be a good human. Regardless of Jimmy Carter's flaws, he's absolutely right to say that torture can never be justified. Some of the army's own interrogators agree with him.

@Cap: Are you serious? Hussein is a rather common name in certain parts of the world. You can't judge a person by their name, and thank goodness for that, because otherwise Sarah Palin's kids would be doomed

If anyone can make an MMO I want to stay with, it's Bioware, but we'll have to see. I like the idea of companion NPCs, since I tend to play when nobody else is on, but I wonder how "Raid-centered" the game will be. That's the one thing I hate about ALL MMOs - end-game is all about raiding.
