Replacement Rules?
I'm just wondering: what's the Sift or socially accepted rules with replacement links?
I submitted a Hunter S Thompson documentary yesterday which died over-night, and the only replacement I can find is a preview trailer of it. Is it OK to swap a full documentary with a trailer? Or is a segment of the entire film needed? Or even the entire documentary?
Also, are there any other rules? As in, hypothetically: could a Sifter re-link to one of their own uploaded replacements (if their Sifts dead)? What does everyone think?

If you can't replace like with like I think it would warrant it's own submission - IMO.
Yeah, unless it's a really fresh segment with no votes. If people have voted already, it's best to get them to agree. I think I once made a small swap which confused the heck out of Ant when the code had changed.
So avoid replacements within the same post unless you're fixing dead links or found a superior embed copy.
Another point on replacements: what if a video isn't available worldwide? As in, The Ascent Of Man Sift isn't available in Europe (or the UK at least) - should an un-restricted replacement be needed?
Plus: the Hunter video in question has just escaped the queue (somehow!?) - so it has 7 days remaining to be replaced!
I think placing unrestricted versions is always to be encouraged.
