Religious Kid in Stupid Sunglasses Challenges 4chan to a War

We need a calling here - are these dupes? (Politics Talk Post)

Why is America not Hiring? (+ more economic analysis) (Lies Talk Post)

deedub81 says...

So, no matter how long it takes, Obama is going to take credit for the recovery? But, many experts believe that the economy would EVENTUALLY recover without all the bailouts so, is it all just a waste?

And what about this new health care plan? How is that going to help the economy? How is incurring more government debt and increasing government run programs going to help young graduates and small businesses? How is cap and trade going to increase jobs?

What is the Government thinking??? I wish Ron Paul were here!!!

All of a sudden, Congress is paying close attention to Ron Paul.

The feisty congressman from Texas, whose insurgent "Ron Paul Revolution" presidential campaign rankled Republican leaders last year, now has the GOP House leadership on his side -- backing a measure that generated paltry support when he first introduced it 26 years ago.

"In the past, I never got much support, but I think it's the financial crisis obviously that's drawing so much attention to it, and people want to know more about the Federal Reserve."

http://www.usnews.com/blogs/letters-to-the-editor/2009/06/25/ron-paul-and-auditing-the-federal-reserve.html

Whew! That should help. But, we're going to need a lot more than just one guy with common sense in Washington.

Mitt Romney: ""I think [we] have to stand up and make it very, very clear that we run the risk as a nation of having the entire world lose confidence in the currency of the United States and that would lead to something worse than a recession -- that would lead to an extraordinary slowdown globally that would hurt us more than any other."

"When the stimulus bill is wrong, when it wastes money and threatens the viability of our currency long-term, you have to stand up and say 'no.' When a health care plan says we're going to have the government take over health care which is roughly a fifth of our economy, [we] are going to have to say 'no' to that."

"The president's plan makes an enormous error by saying we're going to put government into the insurance business. We got everyone in Massachusetts insured and we did it without putting government into the insurance business. We said instead we're going to help people get private free enterprise kind of insurance they can buy from a number of different companies."

He said the system led to plunging premiums while offering a healthy choice of options for consumers.

"It's working well. We got 440,000 more people insured than when the plan was put in place, it costs less than 2 percent of the state budget -- it's a plan that's working, it's a good model," he said.

Romney also took issue with the climate change bill that passed the House of Representatives last week, saying it was corrupted by special interests.

"It's a lobbyists' delight and as a result it's a lousy piece of legislation. It should not have been passed, it's going to cost the American consumers a lot of money, it's going to cost us a lot of jobs. Yeah we'll create jobs making windmills and solar panels and that's wonderful, but were going to lose a lot of other jobs ... that are creating products that use energy," he said.

Of all the years of wasteful government spending, why now!!!???

I'm in the process of switching health insurance and I just got a quote yesterday. It'll cost me $130 a month to have a HDHP with a $2500.00 Anual deductable and I pay 0% for preventative care. In conjunction with a Health Savings Plan, that's a heck of deal!!! There's nothing wrong with Health insurance! That's less than the combined cost of my cable internet and my mobile phone bill. I don't know the statistics, but I'm willing to bet that most people in this country without health insurance, CHOOSE NOT TO HAVE ANY because they'd rather drive their nice car or have an iPhone or HD TV or whatever.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY? WHY IS IT THAT WE EXPECT EVERYTHING FOR FREE AND ARE WILLING TO LET POLITICIANS DRIVE THE US OF A INTO THE GROUND TO GET IT!?

CO2 is a fundamental building block of life, and current levels are NOWHERE NEAR where they have been in the past. Moreover, the correlation of CO2 and Earth temperature is deeply flawed. It's far more likely that temperatures rise and fall in the short term as a result of solar cycles or some other phenomena, and that increased CO2 levels are a corresponding RESULT of temperature change rather than the cause. That's what gives the idiots that nice correlating graph where they can claim the opposite. A more detailed look at ice core graphs show us that temperature changes occur BEFORE changes in CO2 levels. The global warming crowd has it completely reversed that CO2 is driving temperature.

Moreover, the last century's warming trend has been a mere .8 celsius, well within natural expectations given the last 1000 years. I suppose the vikings were also somehow responsible for the even larger climactic swing in temperature known as the Little Ice Age from 1000 to 1200 AD? From 1940 to 1970, there was a cooling trend which led to a global cooling scare. We were all supposed to be frozen in ice by now.

The idea that mankind is capable of affecting earth's temperature is just laughable. If it was even possible to have globally banned coal and oil the last 200 years, the only thing you'd have accomplished is a complete eradication of 200 years of human progress towards cleaner, more efficient technologies like nuclear (which you luddites have also blocked while countries like China and France kick our freaking asses).

http://www.dailytech.com/Chinas+Nuclear+Power+Efforts+Surge+Ahead/article14911.htm

So what exactly are we supposed to do? We can't do nuclear because you boneheads don't want to recycle or store the voluminously small captured waste, you'd rather burn your fuel and disperse it into the atmosphere than put something in a single mountain for a thousand years until we jettison it into the sun. You herald wind power, which takes massive amounts of steel, land, and maintenance for relatively little power output. You'd have to cover an area the size of Montana with windmills just to meet TODAY'S domestic power demands. That's how bloody inefficient it is relative to nuclear, and unless you magically discover a magical material like steel that is way cheaper and 1% as heavy, it's going to hit a wall pretty soon. Wind is fine for the wind belt and rural areas in Iowa, solar is fine for the desert in Arizona. But to say that wind and solar can themselves provide even a majority of our national need for cheap power is pure insanity. It's pure insanity, and anyone who's looked at the numbers knows it.

That's a really good idea you know. It's gonna take some time and a lot of patience that i'm not sure people will have enough of, yet we can but try. In time we might get it back to something close to what it was before, but of course it's not going to be the same. C'est la vie, onwards and upwards!

This is a huge huge mess. At the moment it seems like we are fighting windmills...

I thought of another way that might be helpful in identifying popular clips.

Truer words have not been spoken. Though I can't prove it, I KNOW that the music and film industry people scour sites like VideoSift for stuff like this. Time and time again I have seen videos that were posted here go dead within a week or so after posting, even though they sat on YouTube for over two years before they were posted. It's already happened to several of my videos.

It's really freaking irritating. Good luck.

True, though MyVideo clips sometimes tend to go undetected for a while.
We will see.

If they are smart they will just camp out on VideoSift and go after the source everytime it surfaces. That way the community does all the hard work digging it up for them.

Oh well. Hope they give up once they realize they are fighting windmills...

Weird Vaguely Racist British Commercial - Kia Ora

dannym3141 says...

I actually regularly saw this ad when i was younger, it was quite a good one and quite popular. I used to sing the song to myself a lot like you do when you're younger, and i even hum it to myself from time to time now.. so seeing this on here is key-raaaaazy. I never even registered that the kid was black back then, and even now i don't see any undertones at all.. In fact, while i was at primary school - between 4-10 - we had a black girl in our class, and even she sang it or hummed it, and no one ever gave any kia-ora based abuse, ever.

Anyway.. explain the racism to me.. so he's a little black kid who likes this drink, a crow wants some of his drink, he doesn't let him cos it's too orangey for anything but him and his dog.. then a crow starts bouncing the sun as though it's a ball. Even if it's meant to look like basketball, why is that racist either?

Honestly, i'm not playing dumb or devil's advocate, i don't see why it's racist.

- The unnaturally deep voice belongs to the crow.
- The bag may indicate he's a hobo, but not necessarily and why is that so terrible anyway?
- It's clearly set in some baking hot country such as ones where you're likely to find darker skin.
- The crow is playing basketball, not the black kid, even if basketball is racist.
- Oranges = made by black people omgracisthax? That's about as racist as associating holland with windmills - ie. not very.
(just pre-empting some answers and hunting for any kind of racism i can)

I'm really flummoxed on this one! Put me out of my misery, or perhaps it really isn't racist at all.

McCain's Latest - Obama is a terrorist!

Trancecoach says...

The Obama Ayers connection is flimsy and circumstantial at best. But McCain is going to continue hammering on it because it magnifies Obama as a "foreign other," as an "unknown quantity," and therefore dangerous and bad. It's the sign of a flailing campaign grasping at straws and tilting at windmills. The bad news? That there are still many people who will fall for it.

Windmill Destroyed By Wind

wazant says...

A friend of mine works as an engineer for Vestas, whose windmill you see here. He knew all about this incident. What happened here is that the internal gears had been stripped so there was no break and also the generator was disengaged, so no electricity either. That's why it's free to spin so fast. It took many hours for the blades to pick up that much speed. They knew it might fail and had plenty of time so they set up a camera capture it, but it wasn't an intentional test.
