Yikes! We're still taxed as if we were worth $125k, and at only 1%. We don't live in city or even town limits, so our tax rates are low. Willow says we're worth over $500k now, so I hope they don't catch on and reevaluate us any time soon. I can't afford for our taxes to quadruple.

I can understand why people who are for gay marriage think this way about people who are opposed to it. It is the vocal minority who are acting out of hate and bigotry, and not following the teachings of the Lord Jesus, who draw all of the attention. The response of a Christian towards a homosexual should be love. That does not mean approving of the sin, but we love the person because they were created in the image of God and He loves them, and He sent His Son to die for them as well as us.

From a Christian perspective, I am against the idea of gay marriage for two reasons; One is that God calls homosexuality a sin. The other is that it was God who created the institution of marriage, which you can read about in Genesis 2, which Jesus quotes when talking about marriage:

Matthew 19:4 He answered, "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female,
Matthew 19:5 and said, 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'?
Matthew 19:6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate."

I am also well aware that the world sees nothing wrong with gay marriage, because they believe man created the institution of marriage and not God. If that is true, that man created the institution of marriage, then what should it matter if a man desires to marry another man, or 5 men and a willow tree? But if God created it, then we are accountable to Him and have no right to modify it.

Well, I'm a biologist and a medical doctor. Am I qualified to answer?

The fact is, we use WAY more adulterated substances in medicine all the time. From antibiotics all the way up to chemotherapy and radiopharmaceuticals. If you reject GM food as "unnatural" then you should never go see a doctor and certainly never take a prescription medication. I guess you could go suck on a Willow tree if you had a headache, but I doubt it would be as good as manufactured aspirin.

I would also like an honest answer for the question, "Which is worse, world starvation or effects of GM food?"

No, if something is tested and works then that is no longer "alternative medicine", it is simply "medicine". The classic example is aspirin, which is derived from the bark of a willow tree. It was then tested and has now been accepted as medicine.

Just because the FDA accepts woo for political purposes, doesn't make it science.

As for FDA approval of St Johns Wort, there is some dispute about the bias of these studies, as it is unexplained why it works so much better in Germany http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/14651858.CD000448.pub3/full#CD000448-sec1-0005.

But for the sake of argument, let's assume there's plenty of evidence to support it. Again the answer is to streamline the approval process, not just let any muppet with some potpourri market it as a miracle cure.

I would much rather people pay 10 times the cost for medicine that actually works, and even better, doesn't kill people.

Of course, if you lived in a country with a sane healthcare system, you wouldn't actually worry about this, because in most of the world, it's considered poor form to let your citizens die from treatable diseases ,just because they can't pay for it.

Again, it's really simple, either you understand and accept the scientific method or you don't. Healthcare is complex and requires a lot of work to determine if something actually works. That costs money. It's unfortunate, but the results don't lie.
