I used to have a SuicideGirls account. It was pretty cool back in high school but...meh.

After watching this though I think they've rather missed the point of "Fight Club" as a movie. Whereas Fight Club was about brotherhood and finding manliness again and such this seems more like celebrating a victory and brutalizing your opponent. Fight Club was much different in that after a fight it was customary for the two men to hug, it wasn't about celebrating the victor, there was no real winner in a sense. In fact the time when Jack (narrator) wins and then brutalizes a fellow participant so he cannot get up on his own is one where everyone acknowledged he deviated from the spirit of what Fight Club was about. He was cast as the villain for what he did to Jared Leto's character.

SuicideGirls may have tried to show how it would be if women got together topless to fight in a warehouse but this isn't anything to do with Fight Club. Whoever wrote and directed this just missed the mark and I'd like to see it again done right.

It's funny because when G4 originally aired this they did not have Sara blurred out. You couldn't see anything because she had on a flesh colored bottom and flesh colored pasties. I was surprised that at 7pm they decided to show her essentially topless but with her nipples covered. Not complaining...just surprised.

You're right. As a new father whose got a wife at home that walks around pretty much topless all day because the newborn wants to feed every hour, I absolutely agree there's nothing wrong with breasts.

But there is something very wrong with a society that continues to dehumanize women, objectify them, and define their value by the size and shape of their bodies (including breasts). I didn't downvote this video for the boobs. I downvoted this video because this show reinforces the idea that not only is it okay to continue objectifying and dehumanizing women, women actually like it.

But I'm guessing that due to reduced blood flow to the brain the (as far as I can tell) entirely male population of Sifters who upvoted this didn't think that deeply about it.

We seriously need a NSFW separated for nudity and cussing. That topless shot was bad for me at work. Ugh.

You can also pull a vid into discuss so the thumbnail disappears from general view and it can be changed.

Here is the vid mentioned above -- the poster was happy to change the thumbnail when asked politely (unfortunately he subsequently killed the vid -- the vid was drawn into a controversy and the poster wanted OUT of that noise. Can't blame him.)

The original thumbnail was a perfect bewb shot -- torso only. It was clearly a naked woman even if you were 20 feet away. Other than its obvious allure, it was also boring and static and story-free.

The new thumbnail is so much more enticing, I think. There is even side bewb. Side bewb is good, right? It would draw in the same crowd as would have been intrigued by the original thumbnail, without causing folks at work to do some convoluted dance and have to remember to change their settings back and forth, and log in and out.

I don't think we need to do anything other than use an existing tool -- discuss -- and the community will sort it out. Doesn't need programming, doesn't need Sifters tying themselves up into pretzels to save the sensibilities of some of the touchier people around here. That would be you, @blankfist. Toughen up, honey. It's just a thumbnail.

Well the issue was that a couple days ago someone promoted the topless joust video so everytime you loaded the page, there was the topless thumbnail proudly displayed right at the top. That was an issue for me and I had to completely avoid the sift for the day at work (not a big deal, but a resolvable problem for that and future situations). There are lots of times at work when I want to show a colleague something that's on the sift and you're right, most of the time it's perfectly fine. What I'd like to create a situations where it's ALWAYS fine.

If it's a huge amount of work, which lucky has alluded to, then you're right it's not worth it. Just a suggestion

How many times in the history of the sift has the thumbnail itself been NSFW? Maybe a handful of times? In the rare, rare case that you see a boobie or a wiener or some other NSFW bit of skin in a thumbnail, just scroll past it. The thumbnails aren't exactly huge -- unless your boss or a coworker is standing right over your shoulder while you browse the sift (in which case it's your own fault if you get caught looking at something inappropriate), no one will notice.

You're reading far too much into it man. I didn't post the video of the boob rolling, I just thought it was funny. I'm allowed to promote all I like. My view of women is fine. I'm engaged and I have plenty of female friends. I also do not want the sift to turn into pornsift, that would suck. I do want people to stupid videos are little less seriously and focus on the videos that they like. There's plenty of content here, enough to satisfy any need, be it obscure animation to awesome jazz, to old interviews with einstein. Just because a few videos that aren't to your taste comes by, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. You're allowed to be a stick in the mud, that's totally your right. You are also very much allowed to hate the video I posted and downvote it. It's a stupid video, I know it. That's what downvotes are for.

I thought about it for a while, and removed it because the video doesn't mean anything to me. It's just a dumb video I found and submitted it to notch up my star points and nothing more. The video also represents a catalyst for causing a ton of controversy on the sift, and I don't really want to be caught up in it.

Someone else can sift it if they'd like.
