Bill Burr's Take On A Musical Tragedy

chingalera says...

Wings made boo-koo hits with Linda in the band-She was talented enough to hang with PM&W, just like Ringo's mediocre drums were enough for the Beatles. Linda Eastman could hold her own with Paul, Yoko was in another realm of wannabe talent altogether. Even after living with Lennon all those years talent avoided Yoko like roaches avoid light!

He could have used any audio/video of her singing as an example. Paul says she didn't break up the Beatles (bullshit), but he did the same thing with Linda. She was terrible, but had way more talent than Yoko. True love must really be blind (or deaf).

I find Burr the most hit and miss comedian to my sensibilities. Sometimes I just don't dig him at all - usually when he's shitting on women. This time I had to balance that distaste with my long standing grievance of Yoko and her influence on the Beatles.

That she sang on the White Album just annoys the crap out of me.

Here is the dm link, of course I make no guarantees either that it will work for you or that if it does you will actually like the music (although I did):

Please let me know if it does work, and I'll add it in as an embed.

Congrats on officially joining the Lounge Lizards, too :

It works! And it was delightful. Almost Lennon/Beatle-esque ... LOVED it!

so jealous of you. Rubber Soul and Revolver are my favorites. you caught them at a great transition in their sound. i was ony 1 !/2 year old.

Mother Nature can be so cruel =o(
Don't be TOO jealous ... I only remember hearing what seemed like 8 notes total for all of the screaming [mine included]. I couldn't speak for a week ... ahhhh youth =o)

You were probably pretty lucky [sounds like you may have been musically inclined early on] to catch some of the great music created by many bands in the 70's and early 80's ... so, not SO far behind =oD

The Flintstones - The Twitch

Brings me back to the 60s, we loved the Flintstones. I remember the episode with Fred's hillbilly cousins where they would smash the radio whenever "bug music" came on, which was a swipe at the Beatles. Years later when the radio would play Adam and the Ants I would pretend to smash the radio while saying "bug music!", it always got a laugh.

Does it bother you that a high % of sifted videos are straight from Reddit? (User Poll by rottenseed)

Oh, but to add to that - I love it when people unearth a gem video that has sat on the web for years, with no love. And someone pulls it out and bam! There's footage of the Beatles from Germany in the 60s, or some nature doco clip from 1992.

In short, don't focus to heavily on 'new' to exclusion of buried gems.
