If there's an Academy Awards for political videos - this should win it. Masterfully done. Reminded me a bit of the long tracking shot in Scorsese's Good Fellas.

Seth Meyers Opens 2018 Golden Globes

ChaosEngine says...

I actually didn't think this was Seth's best work. I'm a big fan of his "Closer Look" segment, but I don't find him that funny with his one-liners.

Also, genuine question: why did Oprah win the Cecil B. de Mille Award? I mean, she's undoubtedly a successful person, but her filmography is pretty mediocre.

The last few winners were:
Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Jodie Foster, Woody Allen, George Clooney, Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep.

There's no way you could argue that Oprah belongs in that company. (not really sure why Clooney is there either, TBH, also get lost Woody Allen, you creepy old fuck).

But still, upvote for the sentiment if not the execution.

Bill Burr Emotionally on Goodfellas

Lukio says...

One of my favourite movies and a great insight. Scorsese also does not shun the edits, the hard cuts. Other directors preferred or still do prefer the "hidden" edits, Scorsese turns this around and makes edits just when you think something is off or as visible as possible. This is imo why the different scenes all appear to be encapsulating their own little comedic story.

Rogue 1 ILM Chain Reaction

cosmovitelli says...

And to think Scorsese was complaining that cinema had degraded into an audience led product when the original film came out. Lucky he gave up and sold out or he might put a gun in his mouth (again)

DeNiro, Dicaprio, Pitt, and Scorsese Sell Out for Casino Ad

ChaosEngine says...

Saddest of all is DeNiro.

Scorsese, DiCaprio, and Pitt are still doing pretty good work, but I'm looking at DeNiro's filmography right now and IMHO, the last decent movie he had anything other than a bit part in, was Ronin..... 17 years ago.

You think Scorsese would throw him a bone and give him a decent role.

DeNiro, Dicaprio, Pitt, and Scorsese Sell Out for Casino Ad

lucky760 says...

I don't think you're right about that at all.

I think it's definitely a safe bet they'll continue getting hired off the top of the A list as if this commercial was never made, and I can't imagine Scorsese will ever stop making movies for the rest of his life.

SaNdMaN said:

Yes, that's exactly what they're doing... "trashing" their careers. No one will ever hire Pitt, DiCaprio or DeNiro again... And Scorcese will never make another movie. Such a shame.

Honest Trailers - The Wolf of Wall Street

ctrlaltbleach says...

I don't see what the big deal is about Leo winning an Oscar this year in my opinion he has had better performances and Scorsese has made better films. I didn't even finish the film I thought I was watching The Hangover got irritated and turned it off.

Guys Reaction to Justin Bieber Getting Arrested

MichaelL says...

Somebuddy been watching too much Joe Pesci / Robert De Niro / Scorsese.
But it's funny that this guy is popping a neck vein over JB who is a Canadian. We Canadians are good at that... we export our shit singers to the States, keep the best ones for ourselves...

Tarantino tells the infamous Scorsese story

evilspongebob says...

Some things are meant to never die, the legend, the truth, in the end it doesn't really matter.

Scorsese's response just confirms that.

I thought enough time had passed that I'd never be surprised by something so ancient. But, what do you know, something old can become new and fresh again.

Thanks Lucky760.

Had no idea Martin Scorsese has actually replied to this rumor. I would've imagined he'd keep quiet forever. His response surprised me: http://youtube.com/watch?v=I6OXjnBIW-4
