Sadly, this video is full of misinformation. The truth of the matter is that these are simply youngling sarlaccs, which explains why you have never heard of the graboid.

On the topic of survival -- I'm surprised you didn't learn this in school -- it's actually quite simple: when traveling through deserts always, ALWAYS vary your walking pattern so that your steps are not distinguishable from the shifting of the sands.
