I'm having some trouble with the timing of the things - it looks like they were shot before the IDF got there, which is weird. It's a great big mess down there, but the people on the flotilla could have expected something like this, when they break the blockade, even if their intentions may be good and honorable.

If they had just released the video without editorial framing, would it have gotten the kind of attention it has?

Would it have had the same impact on people who watched it?

Before, people scarcely were aware wikileaks existed. How about now?

Was their credibility really damaged? Did the edit conceal relevant information, or lead people to a mistaken conclusion?

They did also release the raw footage, so you can compare as you like, and see if they misrepresented the sequence of events.

The more I turn this over in my head, I'm not so sure they've really made the wrong decision here. They're going to have to be doubly cautious from here on out if they want to maintain credibility, but they've got a long way to fall before they're on Fox's level.

Mostly I think it's a dangerous thing for them to do personally. A fastidiously apolitical organization dedicated to self-concealment and exposure of confidential information has a layer of political protection from violent retribution from the governments and corporations they offend. Becoming a blatantly political organization with the same modus operandi opens you up to a lot more danger, especially if you do something the public doesn't appreciate.

When Maddow refers to the completely neutral and disinterested California attorney general Jerry Brown, is she referring to prominent liberal activist and former "Governor Moonbeam" Jerry Brown? No, he's not liberal at all. A+ detective work, Maddow. It's not like it's your job to know these things.

What an outrage that the fake-pimp refuses to release his raw footage, lest it give ammunition to his opponents... Maddow must be similarly outraged that liberal scientists like those in this video refuse to release their raw data, lest it give ammunition to their opponents. I understand human intelligence naturally falls along a bell curve, and you can't blame people for existing within that bell curve, but Maddow is a former Rhodes scholar who lives in the lap of luxury... she could at least try to exhibit complex cognition beyond primitive tribalism.

It's a dupe if there is not a significant change from another video. This is obviously a gray area, but most of the time you can "feel" when it's a dupe.

This is quite a bit different than the raw footage, so I would say not a dupe.

i was curious about this footage having seen the wreck on a random 'worst of whatever on tape' american show.

that was pretty horrible. thanks for posting. it is raw footage, and on the anniversary of the event.

appropriate to remember the memories? well, i dont have any others of these people... and now ill definitely remember how terribly untimely their demise was. the words air show crash kills people actually dont have much effect on me since i have never experienced it. everyone will relate in a different way, but i think this video is good to remind how fragile life is.... something especially memorable via such vivid display.. and makes me appreciate living more. but that's just me.

it is not showing much of the actual.. moment of bad stuff happening to bodies... at least, not an overwhelming percentage in any sort of detail... mostly aftermath in raw extended context... in somewhat graphic detail though not HD or anything. anyway. kill it if you must. i know ~80 people who don't have an opinion either way, but do have a small chance for their deaths to impact powerfully on others through technology.

As noted, it's not a bird test, but an explosive blade-off test. If I'm not mistaken, it's the raw footage of this Rolls-Royce test.
