Time to review user ratings? (Internet Talk Post)

newtboy says...

I’ve been thinking about how to rate users and had a few ideas….
First I thought it might help to incorporate comment votes, but that doesn’t really take into account the lowered traffic in the last few years and still leaves inactive members as the top.
Second I thought maybe only count votes from the last year (or two)….but that discounts the efforts of those who are still active but less so than before.

Third, and this one made sense to me, maybe rank by “golden one” and/or “silver tongue” badge level. That ignores traffic rates and rates by percentage of current votes but doesn’t ignore older poster’s contributions, it rates/ranks them. Then, people who submitted many popular videos aren’t outranked by people who submitted fewer and less popular videos but at a time when there was just more site traffic.
Just my thoughts…

These are some totally valid points.

I reckon I'd totally be up for making some changes, especially as it relates to quality of life for those of us who still come around.

@newtboy What top users list did you have in mind?

@ant Did you have any specific updates for VS in mind? Large-scale changes probably wouldn't be doable any time soon, but we could get away with doing some smaller changes.

If anyone has any thoughts, do share!

When you're the only person in band that practices ;)

Good start, but Is a $2000 fine punishment enough for voting fraudulently at least twice, and blaming political enemies for his crimes? You conveniently ignored the question.
IMO, he should see serious prison time and the fine should be at least 10 times what it is….any fraudulent voter should.

He’s the poster boy for your election fraud fraud. No “mea culpa”? No “I guess maybe we should rethink our claims”? Nope, just some whataboutism over long ago debunked and totally made up nonsense you clearly still believe, gullible rube that you are.

If such a thing had happened, absolutely the state should go after them, not the Trump mob that tried to lynch them and continues to threaten their lives daily, but since this is another moronic, long ago debunked right wing hallucination and fabrication, investigated by the state and found to be ignorant supposition by the right not subversion by the left, that’s a flat no.
🤦‍♂️

“What you saw – the secret suitcase with magic ballots – were actually ballots that had been packed into those absentee ballot carriers by the workers in the plain view of the monitors and the press,” -Georgia Election System Implementation Manager Gabriel Sterling

Democrats get accused of the crimes Republicans keep getting convicted of….because you morons really hate yourselves, but you aren’t adult enough to admit that so you project. Remember all those attempted cop killings and bombings last summer that outraged you until it became clear they were largely right wing white supremacists shooting police, lighting fires, and setting bombs….then suddenly those crimes weren’t an issue? You’re so transparent.

Good catch and he should be punished.

Lets also go after that Atlanta mother and daughter who pulled out a few suitcases of fake votes and ran them through the machines all night long giving the Biden spike... You down for that?

Remember Kirk Hartle? He’s the Republican Nevada man whose dead wife’s ballot was used to vote last year. The poster boy for voter fraud, claiming his wife’s ballot had been stolen (twice) and used to vote in Nevada elections, twice. For weeks he was trotted out as the proof of widespread liberal voter fraud, they clearly stole ballots and fraudulently used them to stuff ballot boxes.

He plead guilty to reduced charges of voting more than once in an election, sentenced today to one year probation and $2000 fine. Your poster boy turns out to be the perpetrator. D’oh! Who could have seen that coming? (Everyone)

Do you think that’s a harsh enough sentence? Consider he actually did it twice.
If he were a Democrat doing the same thing, rigging elections and accusing Republicans of being the culprits in a national disinformation campaign, would you accept such a weak slap on the wrist? Basically selling extra votes for $1000 a piece?

Kamala And The Mushroom Tip

luxintenebris jokingly says...

Don't know whether to compliment or be repulsed by that statement.

If anyone can put their "special purpose" INTO a urinal then either they are unGODly endowed or have a kink rarely (un)covered in adult films.

Perhaps, OVER a urinal would be a better description, but perhaps being accurate isn't a requirement for the poster...or the joke.

EX : two men are taking a leak off a river bridge...

"Water sure is cold today," says one.
"Deep too." replied the other.

Most folks would say they urinated OFF the bridge. IF the term was INTO the river, the urine stream is the part being place INTO the river. (i.e. sort like a stream feeding into a larger stream - - the confluence where Big Bob's Brook meets the Yellow River)

As opposed to "I drop my 'special purpose' into the water for a leak." His 'special purpose' was being INserted into the river.

SO Bob's statement should have read...

"She had more penises in her than the number of times I've put mine into a birdbath."

https://youtu.be/yJJA6WRpvlg?t=76 *

* Context for the term 'special purpose'...although the 2nd half of the clip's letter scene is largely out of context. Hmm...a link to the movie THE JERK in a response to a bk33 comment? How 'bout that?

Fortunately, I don't lack respect for fellow sifters and their comments and conversations.

Had I been someone new to VS and wanted to check out the comment section I would have disregarded joining the site simply because of the appearance of an attention whore poster.

I did try to get your attention as a friend to ask you to maybe limit how many "dead" posts you make at once so as to not push recent comments and conversations into oblivion.

When you didn't respond I assumed you were not interested and just continued on.

This isn't so much about the rules as it is about respecting fellow sifters.

I hope you and I can stand on common ground.

Bullshit. Maybe if it was some minor story it could be shunted to page two if there are enough paid adds and sites that pay for preferential treatment. A major revelation like that, with evidence not just crackheads claiming it,could never get off page one of a search. It’s not there because it’s utter bullshit made up by professional bullshit artists to excuse their cohorts from treason and murder....or perhaps because there are a dozen professional fact checks that all debunked it and the original claims have been retracted and taken down by their original posters. (That’s what politifact indicates)
They do not “hide” pages, and they aren’t the only game in town.

The one bit of evidence I can find on the subject is the photo of Trumpsters taking selfies with capitol police that some nut job said proves they are ANTIFA agents working with police to frame Trumpsters....too bad those people have actually been identified as long time trumptards. There was also a claim that facial ID software identified many as ANTIFA, but the company itself said it identified white supremacists and other far right extremists, no ANTIFA. That claim is gone because it was retracted when the truth came out.
Just admit you bought the lie and made it up. If that weren’t the case, you absolutely could have proven me wrong by now, instead you are taking this red herring “it’s been hidden by google” lie as far as you can in hopes you won’t get called out again for just making up bold faced lies, again.

It’s a pure bullshit lie. ANTIFA did not instigate the attempted Trump coup, Trumpsters did, and they planned it online, documented and verified, some for months. Every person asked said Trump directed them to go there and “stop the steal” by “fighting hard” and “not allowing Biden to be declared president” and “getting rid of representatives like Cheney and others that are weak”. Not one said some hipster said attack congress so I did. It’s a transparent, baseless, evidence free excuse for treason. No body is buying it, it’s just so stupid a lie to start with. You need an IQ below 75 to think it MIGHT be true.

Circulating Seal

StukaFox says...

Fucking witchcraft! It's witchcraft, I tell ya! Listen you, we ain't havin' any of that hocusy-pocusy bullshit here -- this is a decent Christian site as is evidenced by the number of atheist posters. You can't just fly in here on your broom and be all like, "Gentlemen, BEHOLD! It's a seal in a ring -- IN FUCKING JAPAN!" and expect us to believe that reason or knowledge was somehow involved. We're fucking Americans here and if there's ONE thing we know, it's not reason or knowledge. Yup, if blaming witches for pretty much every goddamn thing but the sun coming up was good enough for every Republican president since Rutherford Birchard Hayes, I suspect it beats thinking for yourself in a cogent fashion or otherwise using your brain as anything but a hat-warmer.

True Facts: The Hummingbird Warrior

Coldmoon says...

Beautiful video and a lot of fun and interesting facts. My wife and I are big hummingbird fans, but we were a little disappointed after putting out a feeder that ended up being dominated by a very crafty and very vicious little guy. We put several more up, thinking that he wouldn’t defend them all, but he did. He was really attempting to injure and or kill the others, so we took the feeders down. Little bastard ruined it for everyone!!
I think that it wouldn’t hurt to maybe cut about 40% of the humor. I don’t think that some posters understand how distracting humorous comments can be, and how they can seem forced and entirely irrelevant to the subject.
You have a great voice for this sort of presentation!

Well, we had to make money off of something, and the Cold "war" was winding down, so, they had to pump up the war on drugs. And crack was wack so it became the poster child for our new war. Always about making money for the rich off the backs of the lower classes.

Anatomy of a Viral Lie, COVID-19

*doublepromote recording a *quality timeline for posterity...and for a series of commercials during the next election reminding people why (by then) thousands died and why we're in a depression.

Keep reminding the weak minded cultists exactly what their messiah said and did, because if it's not shoved in their face at least once an hour they'll forget it and pretend he's never said anything different from what he says right now, and anyone who claims he did is "fake news".
We are living in 1984, but big brother has had a severe mental decline.

I fully expect him to take credit when Mexico starts building the wall to keep Americans out.

It's Not Okay

greatgooglymoogly says...

Actual racists only use these new symbols when the mainstream recoils in horror and labels the trolls incorrectly as racists instead of as trolls, or just ignoring them. I think many spreading the "it's ok to be white" slogan are trolls too. They enjoy seeing people freak out at a phrase that says nothing negative about anyone, but many people will read into it a hidden meaning. You can't discern intention in these cases, only assume based on your personal previous exposure. I seem to understand it as a response/analog to "black lives matter" which most people don't think secretly means white lives don't matter, and the posters think the disproportionate response is racial bias.

newtboy said:

I agree with not accepting their usurping common terms and gestures, but I cannot accept ignoring what them mean by them. Just because I don't mean anything racist when I use the OK hand symbol, I'm not going to pretend the white supremacist assholes flashing it behind the black sports announcer wasn't blatantly a racist move. Thankfully, neither are the stadium owners who banned those people for life.
Recognizing their racist intentions is not the same as condoning their racist usurpation of language. Ignoring their racist meaning and usage is condoning it. I will call them out when I think they're being racist, which these people undeniably are. "It's ok to be white" is a slogan used EXCLUSIVELY as a racist taunt, not a factual statement of equality.

Don't ignore racism in an effort to deny it power, that doesn't work....it only allows it to fester and grow. Bright sunlight is the best disinfectant.
