Rape Joke Debate

Yogi says...

Before watching this I know that Jim Norton is going to be right but be bad at making his points. The comedian they should've had was Louis CK, he's awesome.

Louis CK had a very good point in response to a Jim Norton joke actually. When you perform at a club you're performing in front of a group of people. You don't have time to take a survey and check what these people have been through, or what hotbutton issues they would have problems with. Everyone is different, for example my mom was murdered in a very not nice way, but my friends made jokes about her being dead all my life, it wasn't a big deal to me and I can separate my love for her and my love of a good joke. However I wouldn't expect that for everyone, some people wouldn't be ok with a joke about their mom being dead even if theirs is still alive. I think you can do what you do when you're watching TV, change the channel or remove yourself from that situation. You can face it if you want to and work through issues, and sometimes comedy can really help that by taking you to a dark place and making you laugh there. It's just we're humans, sticky soft disgusting humans.

She's saying we wear the party all over our bodies and faces
What allows me to speak in wild abstractions
The senseless killings gifts God gives us have no one to love them

It's the kind of thought that kills you twice on the way down
You might forget them but you're not nice they don't forget about you
How they claw me in my false or foster reflection
Is that my reflection in the Damascus play?
How they claw me in my foster or false reflection

You should call me sometime. I won't answer but, at least I'll know you care.
(How will you know it was me?)
You think I got caller ID?

I guess I should be happy for you, for your success and all that
But your fame ain't got nothing for us
I supported you kid, back when no one else did (oh yeah, oh yeah)
You know I waved your flag, back when no one else did
I just want things to be the way they used to be,
When you only set a place for me

The great chorus of my skull is choking on their dulcer tones
Ten lashes on the ass of anyone who even tries and
Heaven's patience glaring down at us filling your room with black b_tterflies

You don't have to try to steal no nothing from my heart
Because for you anything you want is always free
Send your freaky fantasies to my phone
Black Converse on and an ice cream cone
Now that I'm not a virgin to you you'll never walk alone
Far beyond the several years of shame
I live to make you call my name
(Call my name)

Guess I should be happy for you, for your success and all that
But your fame ain't got nothing for us
I was your booster babe, back when no one else cared (oh yeah, oh yeah)
You know I celebrated you (I'm hard for you girl),
Back when no one else even thought to
I just want things to be the way they used to be
When you only saved a seat for me
Come back! Come back!

I feel so at peace
Why is the sky karma
I think I'm the one I got from

@UsesProzac All I was saying was that this isn't a 'nice thing to do' as had been stated. It's not, it's a PR exercise, that seems to be working a damn treat too.

A 'nice thing to do' would have been to do something like this but without their crack documentary team making sure the world knew about it, and then using their 'nice thing' in their tv ads and telling the world what a 'nice' company they are.

That's not 'nice'.

This looks like a dupe but in case it's not. It's not nice to make fun of the mentally challenged.

It's not a dupe in the "Videosift" sense, the only reason I put it up is they ran this a few nights ago after the Jazz vs. Suns game and I now easily assume the "Shaqtin' A Fool" bit is a little on the stale side.

But, I liked the commentary and the hiliarity of the plays so I thought I'd at least sift it for that reason alone.

If enough people think it's overkill to have this video I'll kill it--no problems to be had .

Seriously, what is wrong with the guy. I'm glad he has a coach and training team that genuinely seem to be trying to stop him from doing these "no-brainers" type of mistakes now in Denver. The look on the face during those plays of the Wizards coach did have to make you laugh though...

Sarah Palin is the only potential candidate with the same "rockstar" power as The Kenyawaiian. Cain is smart and would make a fine candidate, but people are not logical or overly using their reasoning abilities; they are emotionally-driven from the reptilian brain, with only a thin veneer of reason. Palin = Rockstar. Obama = Rockstar. No other candidates anywhere have this power at this time.
Palin is far smarter than the meager credit given by her critics. You don't become governor of Alaska by being a dummy. Nobody kicks a dead dog, and the disgraceful way Palin and her family have been treated by the libmedia since Day Uno should give anyone who 'trusts' any kind of media pause. I can't think of anyone else on the entire political spectrum who has been the target of such outright vitriol, personal and political, including Obama.
We can discuss Palin's verbal gaffes or 'hypocrisy' on issues; it does not matter. Palin loves America; I have never gotten that vibe from Barack. Ever. He seems a disdainful tea-sipping Eurointellectual, which would be forgivable if he ever did anything of note.
Palin = Rockstar. Obama = Rockstar. That's really it. It would be no shame for her to run and lose, but if she didn't run at all, that would be cheating herself. If she doesn't run NOW, she'll be a ghost for 2016 and beyond.

Re: executions. Sorry, I did not see this question before now. Correct me at will, but I think the question you're really asking is, given the risk of accidentally putting an innocent person to death, do you still condone executions?
My answer is Yes. Liberals have not been able to prove an innocent man or woman anywhere in America has been executed, since at least 1950. Even were it so, it's a risk I'm happy to take.
The System needs to be fixed. This endless appeals bullshite needs to stop. No one sentenced to death should live longer than 10 days more.

The only way I would support ending the death penalty is if life in prison w/o any chance of parole was actual punishment. Federal crimes should be served in a federal gulag somewhere cold in the middle of nowhere, with few amenities. Every day should be hard labor until natural death. Once a month we can offer all the inmates a suicide pill. I'm sure you won't agree with much of this and that's fine. Most people in prison belong there. They are not nice people.

So really? You really think this person is a viable political candidate for anything?
She does make a great Fox pundit. PS. That is not a compliment.
PPS Still waiting to hear from you about whether you are okay with the state executing innocent people. Yes or no. (Hint -- If you can't say it, you probably shouldn't be doing it.)
