Woman kicked off flight for not wearing a mask

cloudballoon says...

That's arguably an overreaction and the airline might kick both out.

Last year I went on a vacation, caught some nasty bug on the plane on both flights. An hour into the flight my nose starts running badly and eyes tearing up. Back to normal after a night's sleep.

Airplane interior are nasty anyway at the best of times. Germs & virus on the surface and recycled air environment. Mask should just be mandated.

Dumb-asses that believe in hoaxes & fake news that "masks cause brain damage" should be banded from clinics & hospitals. By their logic, since all nurses & doctors wear mask everyday at work, thus they're all brain-damaged zombies. And who would want to be treated by zombies huh?

Solving the Mask Shortage in Huntington Beach

Mauru says...

This is so fucking weird for a number of reasons:

- Even the dudes handing out the masks don't seem to use them correctly - you need to cover your nose

- Arguably, wearing a mask on a beach or outside is not really that important as long as you stick to social distancing (1.5 to 2m). It's when you enter crowded or often-frequented places (stores, subways, etc) when they become a factor

Is this whole thing really that politicized atm? Scary...

Your Dog thinking You're the "Alpha" is NOT a Real Thing

newtboy says...

So, sounds to me like the alpha male theory is correct, just not the reasons why people think one becomes alpha and another doesn't.
Aggression and force are not what makes an alpha, strength, intelligence, and a calming temperament seem to be more representative of alpha traits.
Also, being the guy who feeds them makes a huge difference in the dynamic.
On top of that, when they're pups, I hold their nose/snout in my mouth gently but firmly. That's one way canines assert dominance without aggression or fear. I don't recall where I learned that, but seems to work.

I've never bullied my dogs into submission, I've only used positive reinforcement to train them, but when I command them I'm firm and there's never been any question about who is the alpha. They might run through a door before me, but they listen and obey when commanded, and have never once been aggressive towards me or challenged my authority, I'm on my fourth dog.
There's a definite difference in how they react to my wife, who would be beta in this scenario. They listen to her, but not as well and they take their time when she calls them.

Forrest Fenn Hidden Treasure Found After 10 Years

Damn! Never heard of this. I demand a do-over!

At least the four that died, died doing what they loved. *Pffffffttt! spits out coffee from nose*

Friends of Forrest Fenn say that he originally planned to put the gold in a pot but couldn't figure out how to nix the tattle tail rainbow.

Dude. Tell me you aren't really surprised. ;-)
You know full well this is straight from the Trump chump playbook. Whenever challenged on the truthfulness of their claims they offer random "proof"...which is NEVER a truthful defense and usually actually proves exactly what they're arguing against, like this time....then they invariably actively ignore any further discussion on the subject to avoid having their nose rubbed in their mess.

That's the problem with blind faith in a convicted con man paired with well below average intelligence and a complete inability to reason or comprehend, it leads to (sometimes deadly) dishonest obstinate obstructionism based on obvious lies at it's best, and it's rarely that good.

Recent polls show that 41% of "Republicans" (Trump voters) actually believe Bill Gates is funding Covid vaccine research in order to secretly inject billions of people with microchips (they have no idea towards what ends, but they know it's true), and another 34% aren't sure but think it's likely true, only 25% are rational enough to say they don't believe it (but in private I bet they're less certain). Do you honestly believe one of these people has the capacity for rationality, truth, or reasoned discussion?

It does explain why republicans don't want to restrict firearms from the mentally defective, 3/4 of them would lose their rights on day 1.

Trump's Covid 19 Plan, Get Cancer Then Poison Yourself

newtboy says...

...and who is surprised that large numbers of Trumpsters were foolish enough to listen to him and drank bleach?

Drink the bleach, then flush your nose with ammonia. Don't let the liberal fake media tell you it's dangerous, they just want you to be sick so it makes Daddy Trump look bad. If you don't believe me, you can at least wash your skin with a mixture of the two....just ignore the clouds of chlorine gas, they're also a liberal hoax.

Only fools on team Trump.

Care to explain why Trump gave a no bid $55 MILLION contract for distributing n95 masks to Pantera, a subsidiary of a bankrupt defense contractor company with zero employees?...a contract that lets the company owner use the power of the federal government to buy the masks at as low as $.63, then sell them to the government for $5.50 each? Pantera provides no service for that near 1000% markup, the Fed finds/orders the masks (and probably pays for them and transfers ownership to Pantera for free), then buys them back for nearly 10 times what they cost. Care to explain how that's NOT just Trump handing millions of taxpayer dollars to a rich supporter?

Cat Saves Toddler From Falling Down Stairs

Payback says...

Can't say the last time I met a cat that didn't turn it's nose up at even day old wet food. Also, if he fell, the humans would probably come in and clean it up anyway.

Such a waste.

Nope. If the kid falls, he becomes the food stash. So yeah bad logic bud.

Trump Declares Himself Above the Constitution: A Closer Look

newtboy says...

Sets a bad presidential precedent. Trump is a bad president without anyone's help. ;-)

The Democrats need to accept that and give Warren carte blanche to do anything at all, including a blanket repeal of all Treasonous Trump's legislation and agreements, and thumb their noses at Republican whining.

I say Democrats should, for one term only, use every trick, ploy, and scheme the Republicans have used for Trump to get us back on track, closing every loophole and making it a crime to support obstruction or "refusal to cooperate" as a public official after 3 years and 9 months.
Ignore them. Dismiss them. If they suggest any legislation, crush it, call it unAmerican and stupid, and laugh at their inability to do anything about it. Defund all their pet projects and corporate welfare programs and implement universal health care with the money saved.
Turnabout is fair play. I'm sick to death of Democrats turning the other cheek in the name of civility with an uncivil adversary.

Unfortunately Republicans of today are not what they once were, they are all just a bunch of hacks that want to cling to power at all costs damn the consequences....

If they don't support throwing the criminal in chief out that sets a very bad president for future POTUS's to push the envelope even farther.

Darwin Man Builds Hovercraft/Ground Effect Plane In Garage

Prosecution of Julian Assange/Attack on Freedom of Speech

newtboy says...

I'll interject.
The published information included the names of hundreds of undercover agents that had nothing to do with the footage, or criminal actions. It was an unfiltered dump of everything they, working together, stole. Exposing those unrelated agents did not benefit American public, cost us millions if not billions, hurt our intelligence agencies badly, and helped our enemies greatly.

It benefits Trump because it allows him the appearance of (at least now) not working with Assange to help Rusher...Er, ah, Russia....interfere in our election to get him elected....multiple instances with video footage of him lavishly praising their work and requesting further interference notwithstanding....his followers can't remember that far back and believe it's "fake news" when their nose gets shoved in it....because he says so.

noims said:

That's possibly the case - although I don't believe it myself - but in what way is the video wrong? As the it says, they're going after Assange for publishing true information gained from a valid source that shows something that (in my opinion) is in the public's best interest to see. The published footage doesn't significantly endanger American operations or agents - certainly not beyond the benefit the public gain from seeing what was done in their name.

I also don't believe that this benefits Trump's agenda, but then I don't think Trump is in effect a Russian agent (although I might agree with the argument that he's a massive tool).

Newtboy's point is at least relevant. Personally I believe that their motivation for going after him is the footage he helped publish, even if the weapon they use is only tangentally related, but it's a fair and interesting point to make.
