Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson: Trump is Clueless on North Korea

vil says...

The only way this can be solved long-term is by treating the area as an investment opportunity. At the very least Japan, China, Russia, the US and South Korea would have to cooperate to make it happen.

South Korea would have to head the effort mainly because Koreans are incredibly xenophobic and nationalistic. Most North Koreans are actually proud to be successfull at enduring whatever hardships are thrown at them and believe foreigners are to blame for everything.

There would have to be a "Marshall plan" that would ensure that the general population, but also most local elites would keep or recover some form of ownership of their "property" which would mostly be land and housing and administration or military rank at this point.

In other words you would have to make the idea of change favourable for the population of North Korea, not try to scare them. Very difficult to organize, much more so than US healthcare.

Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson: Trump is Clueless on North Korea

shinyblurry says...

It seems strange to argue that we need to protect the North Korean economy so that the people don't suffer..when they are suffering so horribly under their latest dictator and have been for decades. They don't need a better economy, they need regime change.

The moment to do that was a long time ago. Now the price to do that is far, far too high..yet we can see that the price of allowing a nuclear North Korea which can terrorize the world with nukes and sell them to terrorists is much higher still.

What do we do? I really don't know. I am praying for wisdom.

Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson: Trump is Clueless on North Korea

Drachen_Jager says...

I'm torn on this issue.

North Korea is one of the greyest examples morality-wise when it comes to regime change.

Right now hundreds of thousands (possibly millions) of citizens live in appalling conditions in work camps. Most of them are there because a relative did something the regime didn't like. They will all die prematurely after years of misery.

99% of the rest in North Korea live pretty poorly, but they scrape by.

So, you have a chance to give millions of people a better life and free hundreds of thousands from slavery, but it will cost hundreds of thousands of lives?

What is the ratio of misery to death that balances out?

I sure don't know. But, as much as I hate Trump and all those idiots, the idea of destroying the North Korean regime might just have merit. Especially if it's done before they develop their nuclear capabilities more.

"Trump has no desire and no capacity to lead the world'

Briguy1960 says...

Soooo let me get this straight even though I am by no means a fan of Trump but have watched with shock the depths to where the Clinton Obama media will sink to attack him.....just what good would a statement on the obvious North Korean problem do?
Put pressure on China and North Korea as Trump is already saying and doing?
Does this guy ever actually "listen" to Trump or does he just tow the line and ignore everything Trump has said that is correct and only worry about Trumps tweets like the rest of the media?
A statement would be nothing but grandstanding and utterly useless in accomplishing anything.
I guess when you are a reporter you think words are the ultimate
power but sometimes they are only spouting off at the mouth.

"Trump has no desire and no capacity to lead the world'

BicycleRepairMan says...

Well, I suppose he kinda explains it in the video, the US has, post ww2 been the guiding star of the west, being both separated in a unique way, and a steadfast ally, and the, by far, most powerful nation, they could afford and permit themselves to stake out the course and push a little harder than other nations. if , say france or belgium or whatever were to "take the lead" on an issue like north korea, the response would be "You and what army?"

I agree 100% with this video, the west has simply lost its leader.

Don't get me wrong I despise Trump but why didn't that statement come from one of the other 19 countries?

Vox: The growing North Korean nuclear threat, explained

eric3579 says...

It seems to me having nukes is the ONE thing that holds off America from potential invasion/war with other countries. Why wouldn't you develop nukes? North Korea aint going out there destroying countries and killing hundreds of thousands. America is the empire building terror nation not North Korea. Why are they such the bad guys? I assume they would rather not be invaded and destroyed.

Lawyer Refuses to answer questions, gets arrested

cosmovitelli says...

I feel like you don't quite understand the concept of a RIGHT.
As in the RIGHT to REMAIN SILENT.
As in you can't be physiclaly attacked, kidnapped and/or shot for REMAINING SILENT.
It really is that simple.
Otherwise it's no longer a right, but a favour occasionally gifted from omnipotent state power.
And unless you are in North Korea and kinda like it, you DON'T WANT THAT and the rest of us DONT WANT GUYS LIKE YOU TELLING CORRUPT/INCOMPETENT/MURDEROUS POWER THEY'RE COOL because it actually KILLS INNOCENT PEOPLE.

Lawyer Refuses to answer questions, gets arrested

newtboy says...

You are wrong.
ANYTHING you say will be used against you. Time and time again officers use "hello" and "no, I don't know why you pulled me over" as excuse for escalation, claiming aggressive or impaired demeanor.

Rights only exist if exercised. They can and should be applied at all times. If they can only be invoked when one is guilty, then exercising them IS an indication of guilt, so that's not how they work.

She clearly told them what she was doing, there was no bank robbery, and she didn't look comatose or impaired.

This is nothing like your douchbag friends. They intentionally created suspicion, she stood on her right to avoid any suggestion of suspicion, and was arrested for contempt of cop plain and simple. There is no charge of "won't answer incriminating questioning"....not in America, maybe in China and North Korea.

Again, you show you simply don't understand legal rights....are you a cop?

So, you think it's proper to be arrested on suspicion of......nothing....based on a cop's biased judgement on how you look, but with ZERO crime committed?!? I'm incredibly glad you aren't a judge.

The really sad part is, this woman may get more for this violation than the family of the black man murdered for following officer's directions to get his ID....they got $3 million, but she's a white lawyer, so may fare far better in our system.

Khufu said:

I don't think saying "hello, how are you?" and "no, I don't know why you pulled me over." are going to incriminate you... but it will make you look like a normal person with nothing to hide. Someone that sits there staring forward ignoring the cop like this lady just looks like they've come straight from robbing a bank.

This behavior reminds me of some friends when I was a teenager that would act suspicious in a dept store and then walk quickly for the exit so that security would chase them, and if caught they WOULD be innocent (and get to act like the victim), if not they get an adrenaline rush and a story.

If these cops had arrested this woman right away, THEN sure don't talk to them. But she jumped the gun and created the situation where she was being arrested from what looked like a routine traffic stop.(whether that was justified or not.)

I was stopped by a cop once on a freeway leaving a city and he said a car with the same description of mine had been stolen in the area. I showed my registration and he let me go on my way... If I had refused to say a word and just sat there, I would have looked very guilty and would probably have been arrested.

Mark Levin Provides Proof Obama Admin Wiretapped Trump Tower

bobknight33 says...

Where did I say this is proof? I did not. The title is the title. You are in the weeds, as usual on this . All I said that this was the source story that caused this story to blow up all over the other weekend.

Again there is ZERO, proof yet provided about Trump colluding with Russia. ZERO. But go ahead and feed you dark sole with fake news.

Trump may colluded, Obama may be involved with taps I do not know But I being the better man that you are open minded to FACTS....

Who cares if he knows Putin. If they are friendly as you say then great. Trump can negotiate better then not knowing.

Obama/ Clinton were shit in dealing with Putin. Hopefully Trump will do better.

But Russia is not the problem North Korea is and Obama/ Clinton did zero in 8 years to lesson this issue. WE sure feel safer don't we.

newtboy said:

You claimed he provides proof....he did nothing of the sort, he just misrepresented other opinion articles.

Voted down because it's bullshit lies/propaganda with no evidence, much less proof, already publicly denied by the FBI, who would have been the ones doing the wire taping and are firmly in Trump's camp.
Fair and balanced means no lies allowed....that might preclude you ever posting again....don't push that idea, it doesn't help you.

There's plenty of evidence that Trump colluded with Russia, mostly coming directly from Trump, but all admitted after the fact when the evidence became public (but lied about until that evidence was released, repeatedly). The continuing lies and distractions, like this one, are pretty good evidence too, and are proof that they are hiding something. Proof can only come from the FBI, and Trump is quickly making enemies of the director that helped hand him the presidency, so it may surface soon.

Edit: my mistake. The proof was when Trump publicly asked Putin to hack Clinton, and a week later she was hacked by Russians. Even if they hadn't done as he requested, the request itself is attempted collusion, irrefutable and undeniable.

No, releasing proof that the president colluded with a foreign power would absolutely not be subversive....neither was Manning or Snowden IMO. Whistleblowers are supposed to be exempt by law.

I agree, let's see it. That's up to Trump and his administration. They have the proof, pissed off congressmen and women don't.

False stories like this, now admitted lie, made up by a rabblerouser with zero evidence, just his own misinterpretation of other people's work, and spread knowingly by liars like you. When the left is presented with proof their suspicions are wrong, they tend to move on...but not the liars on the right.....birthers is all I need say, but it's FAR from the only example I can produce. Truth doesn't have a side, no matter how hard you wish it did, but lies and fantasy are the currency of this administration.

This is what's meant by "fake news". Totally made up bullshit designed to distract. Trump's ties to Russia are documented and admitted (sometimes...Trump can't keep his story straight). In 2014 he was bragging about his ongoing great personal friendship with Putin and their numerous recent personal meetings....now he claims to barely know Putin and that they haven't spoken for over 10 years....which is it?

24 Things Nobody Does Better Than Donald Trump

kceaton1 says...

It's amazing to see just how smooth and clean Putin's or "Russia's": "Coup O' America" is running, using empty-headed our power-hungry Republicans as the tools to make it work. (Yeah sure it's I don't believe this; but does it really matter when it is still turning OUT the same way?!)

Essentially just putting a person in each office that wants to tear it apart, so that they destroy America from the inside. Then put an administration on top that would run like a classic Dictatorship-lite. Right now our military branch and side branches--like the courts, taxes/money, infrastructure, etc... Are the only things that can actually respond and do jack-shit. Our country is running around like a chicken with its head chopped off.

Trump has NO idea what in the hell he is doing at all at the wheel. We ALL know this by now; if you don't agree on this you are absolutely lying to yourself. He has yet to make ONE announcement as President, that is actually--you know--presidential... Like after North Korea and it's missile test, then it's warning about Nuke use. Iran's proclamation. Russia's little boat fiasco (HHRrrmmm...Me Trump...Not Good!...)...

You could tell that Trump has absolutely no handle on anything at the last press briefing where all he did was bitch and moan, and didn't do anything useful at all. All he did was sit there and act like a spiteful little crybaby--Obama should've tried that out at the start when everybody called him a Muslim, non-citizen, the anti-christ, and whatever shit popped in their mouth.

Then we have the folks that say, "See, look the same thing happened to Obama too! So we are j-u-s-t-f-i-e-d!". Now that is the worst way to make a case for equivalency, ever...

USA and russian relations at a "most dangerous moment"

vil says...

Pretty much interview scripted by Putin personally.

Why the drama about US - russian relations if the russians supposedly are not dangerous and Putin is not evil.

Building a case to sell Poland and the Baltic countries to Putin. Worked like a charm with Hitler and Czechoslovakia before WWII. Poland these days does not even have a border with Russia proper, only with what used to be Koenigsberg. Poland is part of NATO and if Abby and her friend the professor want to give that up then it is them who are pushing us all closer to a war (cold or not).

Ukraine has already exploded. Putin has already taken 1/3 of the country breaking bilateral treaties. Cant get much worse, hard to imagine how the US can get involved, Trump notwithstanding.

Syria - its basically over, except for the humanitarian and human rights catastrophe. Putins ally won - a slightly pyrrhic victory perhaps, but for the meantime Assad stays. Did they level cities or liberate them? Hard to tell the difference. Probably both. That said US involvement in the middle east is a grave shitstorm.

This awesome "analysis" somehow misses the biggest current problem of NATO - Turkey - possibly because Putin does not have a good handle on Turkey yet so its off-limits. Also Pakistan/India and North Korea does not get a mention for the same reason - no chance to push Putins agenda.

NATO might have reassured Gorby it had no intention to spread. It is important to understand that Warsaw pact countries generally accepted Russians as saviours from German occupation, by the 1970s this had changed firmly to perceiving Russians as occupants, political persecutors and economic idiots.

After the economic collapse of the USSR (supposedly somehow caused by Ronald Reagan :-) all these countries needed reassurance that the Russians were not coming back. The only possible reassurance was joining NATO. If that meant breaking a promise made to an ex-representative of a no longer existing country, that is fine by me. If NATO had promised not to spread to Mother Theresa I would be more concerned.

The problem with the Ukraine is that we (EU) made an offer that put them in danger (from Putin) and we could not back that up with real economic or military assistance. Dumb move. But also Ukrainian politics is an incredible mess and simply too many ethnic russians live there giving Putin a strong nationalist base.
